What film did you watch last night?

Capone - I read the reviews prior to watching it, but decided to give it a go anyway. Even Tom Hardy couldn't save this one. Shame, because if they'd taken a more historically accurate approach and possibly explored Capones life outside of crime in a more meaningful and less surreal manner, it maybe, possibly, might have been worth watching.

4/10

Where did you watch that please. I can’t find it anywhere.

Sound of metal

I stopped watching about 40mins in. Just didn't connect with it due to the music. I just kept thinking that this has been done before. All Gone Pete Tong in my eye appears to the be same / similar story, but executed better in a more enjoyable watch.

Maybe just wasn't in the right frame of mind to watch it tonight. Dunno.

Watched last night. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind but I thought it was self indulgent, predictable and I completely failed to engage with it. I can appreciate the acting and the retro cinematography, ultimately it bored me.

Horses for courses, sorry you didn’t like it!

News of the World. - 7/10

Western of sorts with Tom Hanks. A bit uneven but worth a watch. Hanks as ever is very good. It suffers from that 'long book made into 2 hour film' issue of having to jump through all the main sequences at a breathless pace whilst trying to let the characters develop. Would have been better as a 4 part series imo.

That’s spot on. Enjoyable gritty feel good movie that felt all a bit rushed in places. The town owned by the egomaniac with his own newspaper would rate an episode on its own.

Monster Hunter

Hmmm, it's terrible, but hardly a surprise coming from the poisoned pen and directng 'skills' of Paul W. S. Anderson, he should have stopped at Event Horizon.

Milla is getting on a bit now, looks ok for her age but her wooden acting far outweighs any eye candy she once had. Tony Jaa is completely wasted on this but probably the best thing about it. The monster CGI seemd ok but some of the environmental CGI was a bit ropey.

And holy ****, Ron Perlman's hair, a sight to behold!

They shouldn't have killed off the Army squad at the very beginning, some reasonably likeable characters there.

3/10... just!
