What film did you watch last night?

@steve5424

I'm probably confusing it with Batman v Superman.

Either way, non of the DCEU films have been great. With possibly Man of Steel being the best.

Even Shazam! Was better than Aquaman, Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman.

Haven't seen WW 1984.

I switched off Aquaman and Shazam, both bored me and won't finish.

BvS was half a really good movie and build up til the OTT cgi fapfest at the end. I still highly rate Affleck as Batman.

SS, BoP, WW...all passable but will never watch again.

Deep Rising - which to my delight is on Now TV.

I ****ING LOVE THIS FILM.

This must have been on Sky Moviemax circa-2000 and I remember enjoying it as a young teen. It’s just as good as I remember.

In the genre of goofy monster/action flicks, this must be one of the best. Wide ensemble cast, check. Light humour, check. Epic cheese, check. Decent amount of gore, check.

It’s just the bestest. I was shouting “yes!” at the TV by the end. Ridiculous film :D

10/10 for my enjoyment.

LOL same here.. I think i have it on BR somewhere. It came out a similar time as Virus but was way more tongue in cheek and fun. I would have really liked to see a sequel of some sort. Oh and Famke in that red dress was a huge highlight.

Those guns they had were really really silly. I believe they are very similar to the ones used in Split Second... :D

aww man i'd actually forgotten about this film, shame on me!! My god Famke Janssen is all sorts of hubba hubba, and the film ain't half bad too :p

V for Vendetta - 6/10

I had never watched this for some reason, seems to have aged terribly with some very questionable acting. The only good thing is that the story resonates pretty well with what's happening today.

Indiana Jones quadrilogy UHD - (10/6/8/4) watched these over the weekend in glorious DV/Atmos. Raiders is still the quintessential action/adventure movie for me and remember watching it for the first time in a little cinema in Prestatyn with my cousin's way back.

Spiral - From The Book Of Saw - 6.5/10

Not sure if i've just watched too much horror or if it was blindingly obvious but i'd figured out both both killer and motive in about 25 minutes of watching this. Didn't detract from the enjoyment though, you don't watch these films for the story, it's just over the top torture porn silliness.

Not really creative enough as the main saw movies for the traps, although the opener absolutely had me whincing and doing the mental gymnastics of 'could i survive this at that cost?'

Chris Rock is hard to watch in a serious role, he doesn't really have enough presence to pull it off, I did like the New Jack City throwback though.

And, for some bizarre reason, police officers all turn their phones off during the day.

A Quiet Place - Been on my radar for a while but never got around to it. Good cast, especially Millicent Simmonds, she was excellent. Blunt and Krasinski were good too. Not as tense as I expected, but the labour/birth scene was. Might go to the cinema this week to watch part 2, but the thought of noisy annoying people is putting me off a bit! 7/10

I’ve seen both at the cinema and it was amazing how quiet people can actually be in films as quiet as these. People even stopped eating their popcorn cause it was making too much noise.

I loved Quiet Place 2. Yeah I ain't all my popcorn before it started anyway :D but for most part people were quiet.

Funny you say that as I really like the ending and the tongue in cheek sequel ‘set-up’ … works just as well as a stand-alone film but I’d love a sequel too!

Lucky you.

When we went to see it on bank holiday Monday, I had to tell a girl too leave her phone alone. It pinged twice and she picked it up both times, on the third ping and pick up I had to say something. She also chatted with her friend at one point as well.

Shot Caller (2017)

Nicolaj Coster-Waldau stars as a well to do family man who goes to prison for killing his friend in a drunk driver car accident.

I really enjoyed this prison thriller that has a lot of similarities to Break Bad. With the main character going from respectable family with a good job, to a hardened criminal. Prepared to do whatever it takes in order to survive prison and to protect his family.

8/10

I read somewhere that the Director confirmed that the island they land on is actually Skull Island and it was supposed to be a jumping off point for sequels. That would've been great.
