What film did you watch last night?

I've just watched Hunt for Red October. Classic

It's the sort of film I can't help but watch when your channel hopping on the TV. I'm a sucker for The Sting like that too.

Watched the new Dune again last night and felt the same as I did when I saw it in IMAX - it's OK but it could have been sooooo much better

Mad Max 2/10!? What do you rate as a 10/10 film?

The car stunts, plot and how they did it with a shoestring budget makes the film remarkable! I personally prefer Mad Max over the bigger budget sequels.

Mad Max was just painful to watch. Wasn't rating it on the stunts, but it bored me ****less and had such horrendous acting. That's why it gets a 2/10 from me. You obviously like it a lot more, which is fine, but I thought it was **** - in fact all four films are pretty rubbish.

I am somewhat in the middle with these.

I quite like how they are not over acted, the whole Australian way they did these, not like a Hollywood production at all. Even if you dont like them, you have to admit they are quite distint to a lot of other action movies.

That being said, I don't think any of the first three were amazing, I have a soft spot for the third one becuase I seen that the most as a kid. Fury Road is better, but again, I probably wouldnt even put it in my top 50, maybe not even my top 100.

The Contractor 3/10
All over the place. Slow start, terrible pacing and a lead with healing powers of Wolverine until he remembers he has serious injuries after the last close quarters battle. Bourne, Extraction, this is not.

I like the first one, but the rest less so. I agree that none would not feature in my all time lists.

I was just surprised & curious at such a low score. Films rated 1-2/10 are real shockers e.g. straight to TV jobs! Whereas the Mad Max series, are not quite that bad, I can think of a lot worse; but each to their own! :)

Yea I agree they deserve more than 2/10 but each to their own.

Mad Max trilogy.

You have to remember when these movies came out and what tech was available back then.

At the time they were fresh and almost groundbreaking with it's futuristic view. But yes, although the premise still holds up, the movies themselves do not.

Watched a couple of movies last week at the Cinema.

Morbius - CGI mess and it was pretty bland. Weak storyline with very strange pacing. The ending was just a rushed mess. Very poor and doesnt deserve to be tagged with MCU.
Ambulance - erm Michael Bay's massive car chase movie. good idea but execution was pretty poor. Some really cool shots but he does have a tendency of spinning a little too much with panoramic shots even when there just 2 people talking in a room.

Overall both movies were not worth going to the Cinema to see.

The Lost City (2022) - 7/10

A thrilling adventure full of exhilarating action, passionate and fiery romance and deep, emotional acting.

Not really – it’s a fun, lighthearted adventure with a good amount of comedy and a well-rounded and likeable cast of characters.

The plot is passable, the setting is well used and the cast work well together, although the villain could have been more eccentric.

No time to die - 7.5/10 far better than I was expecting, although the woke levels were a little cringe and tacked on at times.

Dune - 8/10 another I enjoyed more than expected.

The Green Knight

A very strange take on the medieval Arthurian poem which is deeply unfaithful to the themes and story of the original. Slow, weird, arty, under-explained, and mostly very beautiful, I suspect it's a very marmite movie but I very much enjoyed it even if I don't really know why they diverged so far from the original story.

Not everyone's cup of tea 8/10
