What film did you watch last night?

Just watched Twilight Eclipse with my OH - to be honest it didn't really make that much sense to me as it had been ages since I'd seen the previous films in the series and I hadn't really paid that much attention to them anyway. :o

I'd offer it a 3/10 - scoring only three point due to the sexy Ashley Greene who plays Alice ;)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Quite good really, but a little long (unnecessarily so IMO).

7.5/10

I agree - I found it too long, and I found it petered out in the middle.

I've just watched District 9 with the wife. It wasn't as clever or meaningful as I'd expected, but as a sci-fi adventure type story it was brilliant. The "hero" was fairly well rounded, rather than being some sort of paragon, and I liked his transformation. It felt a bit like The Fly, except he didn't love his new body in the same way. The special effects were very good, and they did a great job with the weapons. It felt quite bloodthirsty in a way, but hell, why not? I'm prepared to believe an alien race with technology far beyond ours could have a ray gun that explodes people, so that's fine by me.

8/10 overall I think.

Not quite last night but last film I watched.

Good Will Hunting.

Still fairly good - best performing actor is Robin Williams.

Watched Brothers... pretty dire. Thought it was boring and predictable, ending was a little better than I thought it would be.

Death Race - 6/10. A good film, but one you don't want to think too much about as the plot holes, unexplained events and poor one liners are numerous. There isn't a deep story, but it just about makes you care enough about the main characters to continue watching (not that you can stop watching Natalie Martinez). The acting is also quite poor. However, the stunt sequences more than make up for it, as do the props (the cars look great) and backdrops. If you have the choice, opt for Blu-ray. The visuals and audio are superb. Would recommend, but only if you are looking for a testosterone fuelled, blood filled action fest! One more thing - Natalie Martinez

Quite enjoying my Lovefilm sub :). Daybreakers or Paranormal Activity I think.

Cemetry Junction. Not a bad film but somewhat bleak. 6/10

The Invention Of Lying. The premis isn't a bad idea but what annoys me is the way everyone just says what they're thinking no matter how offensive it is. The absence of lying wouldn't mean absence of tact surely? 5/10

Legion. I rather enjoyed this hokum about god being ****ed with us. 7/10

Harry Brown. Nice to see the little scrotes get what they deserve. Shame it never happens in real life. 7/10

I did :p

I thought you'd have better taste ;)

Huh? So you think The Prestige, Fight Club, Seven, American Beauty, Revolutionary Road, Once Upon a Time in the West/America,The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Departed, Casino, Goodfellas and Memento are examples of poor taste?

Into the Wild, very well put together film about a young American who rebels against his parents and hits the road with no money for two years ending up in the wilds of Alaska. As said very well put together and moving, I though Hal Holbrook was superb (the old guy who carves leather). 4/5

Fantastic find. My girlfriend bought it because Kirsten Stewart from Twilight is in it.

Edit: Also seen City of God and Moon recently.

City of God is on my top ten film list. I was absorbed in the characters, story and world in the first ten minutes. The soundtrack is also fantastic. A rare 10/10.

Moon - Fantastic Sci-Fi film. I'd give it a steady 8.5/10 and that's from somebody who doesn't watch Sci-Fi.

I watched UP again last night, it's fantastic, looks and sounds amazing. Real classy stuff from Pixar, amazing start to the film.

I agree with City of God, it's ****ing immense. A real gem.

Moon is outstanding, will be talked about among the all time great Sci Fi in a few years imo, or deserves to be :)
