What film did you watch last night?

Soft & Quiet - argh/10 - it's hard to score this one, it's a highly emotive movie so any enjoyment or score will be swayed with how strongly you feel on the topic.

A racist womans meeting escalates when they decide to prank a local asian girl and things spiral out of control. There were moments where I wanted to reach in and throttle these women and others where I was frustrated at the simplistic nature of the racism they were portraying. The women were generally 'i'm not a racist but...' types and it felt a little tired and contrived.

I think there was a message attempted here but it wasn't handled with enough finesse for such a powder keg of an issue. I think the scariest part is these people are everywhere, feel so hard done by and could easily see the events portrayed in the movie happening and well, they do sadly.

BULL, worth a watch, pretty savage in places.

Said it before but I really enjoyed it up until the very last few minutes, then I was like wtf and it ruined the whole movie, I was trying to figure it out the whole way through, but I was not expecting that.

I was really enjoying it as well, would have been a solid 7 at least.

I think I'm in the minority though.

I've intentionally been vague not to cause any spoilers.

Not seen it in a couple of decades at least. The headboom scene is still truly great. Shotgun loaded with rock salt works wonders. Sometimes it's the simple things. Still a really good thriller/horror film.

8/10

Dirty Harry, you cannot beat a Clint Eastwood classic. :)

“But being as this is a . 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?”

Just about the most iconic line and delivery in any film ever. Only Clint Eastwood could ever have delivered that line in that way....................................absolute classic.

Dad would agree. Me, not so much :). I watched Dirty Harry a couple of months ago (Dad gave me a box set 'cos he got a bigger box set ). It was an 'OK' film but I was a little bored. Just not my type of thing obviously and still haven't bothered watching the other 4 in the set.

NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUR (1984) 8/10 great movie really resonates with my recollection of the book, which I must read again soon. Great performances all round, really captures the bleakness of Orwell’s totalitarian state.

No Hard Feelings - 7.5/10

Not really into sex comedy type films, but the trailer for this made me chuckle, and it has Jennifer Lawrence in it. In the end it was half drama and half comedy, almost a rom-com. Mostly predictable and slightly cheesy story but elevated by J-Law's performance.

MI 2 - oh dear.

Great premise and a good movie, but looking back now, how many slo-mo shots? Somebody farts = slo-mo. John Woo film, so you can understand it to a degree, but glad they made the shift away from this style.

Motorbike scene was laughable, but Thandie Newton was sooooo hot in this.

Being a J Law fan i watched this after reading your post, yes it was cheesy and predictable but enjoyable light hearted viewing which made me chuckle a few times. Jen L was great in it and the young man was good.
