What film did you watch last night?

John wick 4
Surprised at the number of subtle video game inspirations in there. Osaka continental had cp2077 vibes. The radio host was pretty much Nora from warframe. The top down hotline miami scene.
Keanu was terrible as always and spoiled all his action scenes, especially in comparison to Donnie. Story was wonky nonsense
4/10

Not sure if serious but it was both a (slightly smug) take on Hollywood lifestyles tied in with a fantasy retelling of the Charles Manson murders.
Had to Google who the people were on the ranch after watching the film because it felt like a sequence that had no relation to the rest of the film.

I know that Tarantino changed a lot about the murders now but Margo Robbie's character might as well not have been in the film she was in it so little.

Heart of Stone (Netflix) - 4/10

Almost turned off about half way through, decided to persevere as I am bored and it's really hot outside. But played with my phone for the rest of the film which I never do (if you need to play with your phone then the film isn't for you).

So generic and bland. Whole film had a weird grainy look for some reason. Gal Gadot's acting isn't great and shares the same issue as many recent action films in that the stars become invincible superheroes. Whole thing felt like mission impossible for dummies.

The Out-Laws (2023) - 3/10

A light hearted and mildly entertaining movie which struggled to hold my attention.

The mundane premise, loveable loser as the lead, in-laws as outlaws and clichéd Russian villain offers nothing new as it moves through the typical scenes in a mildly humorous manner.

The acting and plot are ok and the carnage and destructive chase scenes towards the end make it more exciting, but it should have been much funnier and much better than it was.

Dune (2021) 8/10 - Great film. I recently watched the Lynch version which is a 7/10 for me. This version is beautiful and the acting is great but I know in my heart that my knowledge of the books and previous film is filling lots of holes in the detail that are missing. I think Chamalet is really good and I like the additions of the Jamis visions but lots of key moments are missing and the lack of internal dialogue means a lot of context is missing. But it exceeds my expectations for a Dune on general basis.

Also "Once Upon A Time In Holywood" the finale is brutal makes me laugh and wince in equal measure.

Pacific Rim - yes it's ridiculous and cheesy but I liked it. First time watching on.my 50" TV.

Transformers the Movie (anime) - couldn't resist. Classic Till all are one. :D
