What film did you watch last night?

Just watched 'The Lives of Others' or 'Das Leben der Anderen'...brilliant film.

I found the last few scenes very moving, and Wiesler was a really interesting character. Quite a slow paced film, but had me gripped. Really thought provoking too. 9/10.

Watched "The Experiment", a Hollywood remake of "Das Experiment" which is a film based on the Stanford prison experiment.

Had some decent moments but not nearly as good as the original. Can't stand Forest Whitaker as an actor and his performance in this was no exception.

The Experiment: 3/10
Das Experiment: 9/10

Funny you should say that about Forest, The Last King of Scotland was brilliant and he was very, very good in it.

I do like him and rate him as well, really enjoyed him when he was in The Shield as well :)

To be fair it's probably an unfair judgement as I haven't seen either of them. From the top of my head I've seen The Experiment, Street Kings and Phone Booth with him in... So a poor selection of films to base my opinion!

Edit: from IMDB I have seen Panic Room and Vantage Point with him in too. I knew there were more.

Watched Denzel Washington and Chris Pine's new movie Unstoppable about a runaway train carrying explosives hurtling towards a large population centre. It wasn't actually too bad a film, a bit gritty in places given all the industrial landscapes and small towns these train travel through - 7/10 :)

Also watched Tomorrow When the War Began which tells the story of the invasion and occupation of Australia by a foreign power and how a group of teenagers wage war on the occupying forces. This seemed to consist of ex Australian soap starts attempting to make it in the world of big movies. Cant really complain too much though as none of the female cast are unpleasant to the eye which made the movie more watch able.

Watched 300 again last night on HD-DVD. Always a great watch imo,cgi galore but very effectively done imo, some of the cinematography is amazing and the slow-mo fight scenes are a sight to behold.Great soundtrack too!

That sounds a lot like the storyline in the 80s film Red Dawn.

Narnia 3 - 2/10. Daughters choice and first time I fell asleep in the cinema. Gave it 2 for the talking rat.

Memento - 6/10. Enjoyed the film but wasn't as great as I expected. Prefer Inception.

Babylon AD - 0/10. No actual reason for this film's existence.

In The Electric Mist - 7/10. Wife mistakenly bought my this instead of No Country For Old Men - the link being Tommy Lee Jones. Was actually a really good film. Didn't demand to much of the viewier, didn't require Mensa membership to follow. A decent little crime thriller.

The Taking of Pelham 123 - 6/10. Another of the wifes Xmas purchases for me. I can see why it didn't get much love but I thought it was OK.

I didn't particularly rate him, but after The Last King of Scotland I know he's a jolly fantastic actor- a great film to watch if you haven't already - quite harrowing though so not one for the family on NYE ;)

A-team. Wasn't too bad , wasn't too great, but I did like the homages in the film, like the original theme and the original intro at the end and in the scene where Murdoch was watching the film in the prison and on the film credits it had the name Reginald Barclay.

The Darjeeling Limited - Wasn't too bad, pretty harmless and slow moving. Worth a watch. 7/10

Jack and Norahs Infinite Playlist - Pretty funny, slightly quirky teen movie. Enjoyed it more than The Darjeeling Limited, so 7.5/10

Other films I've seen in the last few days:

Fantastic Mr Fox - Excellent. 9/10

The Machinist - Another good one. Christian Bale did a sterling job here. 8.5/10

Saving Private Ryan - Good stuff held together well by Tom Hanks. 8.5/10

Managed to convince my mates to put V for Vendetta on, i saw it before but i actually couldn't remember anything from it.

Great film, even better with a fresh perspective. That situation isn't a million miles away from what we have now and what we could have in the near future. Just goes to show how one man can make all the difference.
