What film did you watch last night?

The Untouchables

9/10

Definitely a good watch. High standard of acting, believable characters, and I like how the line between good and bad is blurred throughout. Plenty of action to keep you interested too, and the 'feel' of the film seems very in keeping with the era, not overly romanticised like in some other similar films. Sean Connery is fantastic in this one too, despite not being the main protagonist, you find yourself more drawn into his world a lot of times. Robert De Niro is also great as Al Capone, he puts a slightly extravagant but fitting character on and Andy Garcia also has a smaller, but very believable role as a young sharpshooter. Kevin Costner can seem a little stiff at some points, but rather than being a limitation of acting, I think it's part of the role he is trying to portray, especially near the start of the film. Highly recommended!

I watched 3 films the past few days

Kung Fu Dunk
If you've seen Kung Fu Hustle/Shaolin Soccer etc then you'll like this film, about basketball with cool Kung Fu :)

The Way Of The Warrior
Cinematography in a similar style to Crouching tiger, again with excellent martial arts and sword fighting, I liked it even if the plot was quite weak it was quite a film to enjoy for the visuals especially on BluRay.

The Rite
Well, similar to other excorcism films but with added freakishness :p

The Straight Story - David Lynch doing a non David Lynch film. Very touching story about and old man wanting to see his brother sfter a stroke. He has to go 300 miles but can only drive his ride on mower. Some excellent scenes with a very slow (5 mph) pace! 4/5

Machete - ****'s all over the Expendables tbh, better action, better storyline, better dialogue, the comedy bits are actually mildly amusing and IMO the cast list is much superior as well

7/10
