What film did you watch last night?

Watched Spider-Man 3 -.- pretty dang bad with very little to like. MJ comes off even worse and just way too much crammed in with terrible editing and strangely more noticeable CGI than the previous 2. Sandman had decent CGI and potential but just not enough screentime dedicated to him.

Vicious Fun - One for horror/comedy fans. A young horror journalist in the 1980's through a series of events ends up accidentally in an 'AA' meeting for serial killers.

If your a fan of the the genre it is great fun, kept me entertained. 7.5/10. On shudder.

The Eternals - 6.5/10

An unpopular opinion BUT seeing the recent MCU movies this was actually a breath of fresh air.

It tries something different. It doesn't suceed on many levels but just the effort to do something different is appreciative. Too big of a cast to make any really stand out but the scale of this I find vastly superior to more recent offerings. The Deviants are terrible and probably one of the worst 'villains' made by Marvel movies but the overall story and it's arc is actually well done, if only it was recognised in any of the Marvel films afterwards. It isn't great but tbh with the recent churn out of Marvel films and TV shows it was refreshing. Whilst none of the characters were particularly rememorable it is still very different, and different enough to be interesting at least.

Year One - 2009

Was slammed by pretty much everyone upon it's release.

Definitely needed the humour (as immature as it is) trimmed down - too many long 'haha this is funny' stretched too long but some really good jokes,

Apparently it's a bit of a 'cult classic' but I would say 6/10 - some jokes are really good. Some are really way too long and drawn out.

The Last Straw - 6/10

The first 3 quarters were well done but the last 15 of course suspended disbelief and rational thinking. Otherwise would have been a 7 or 8.

But if you like Horror movies it is worth a watch.

Terrifier 3 - 6/10 for a movie critic, 7/10 for a Terrifier fan.

Better pacing, although still a few things that clearly showed cuts were made. Gore, whilst there have been multiple reports of certain scenes it was tamer to me than the previous. Explores the lore a bit more but raises more questions than answers. Art is still the star and he shines throughout.

Smile 2 - 7.5/10

This one was surprising as I didn't really rate the first despite the acclaim. But this I thought was one of those few horror sequel's that is better than the original. Mainly due to the main character Naomi Scott's powerhouse performance. Sure 15-20 minutes could have been trimmed off but the great performances really made it worth a watch.

Alien Romulus 3/10

Having watched all the franchise to date, this has to sit bottom of the pile.

The CGI was really poor.

The opening scene was so poorly rendered, I thought it was someone playing a console game and it would transition into a proper film.

So much green screen and don't get me started on all the old tech and extractor fan ducting everywhere.

Meh.
Fair enough on 3/10. It is a 7/10 for me, it was basically a 'best of compilation' from the previous movies. But surprising about the CGI, there was one badly done CGI element that has been discussed a lot but overall the film looked fantastic as many people and critics have stated so not sure if you are just taking one bad element and applying it to the whole film?

Silent Bite - 7/10 for the genre, probably a 5/10 for not fans.

It is a vampire christmas movie, and whilst the vampires are campy the story is a unique turn and the script between the 'original' cast actually had be chuckling in places due to the wit. It is almost like a Guy Ritchie vampire movie in the dialogue etc If you like trashy horror. Give it a watch.

Silent Bite - Expected it to be trash but actually enjoyed it. Ending is a bit meh but some genuine chuckles from the dialogue for me. Very campy and over acted in certain places but hey, if you like hot vampires definitely worth a watch.
