What film did you watch last night?

Seen it tonight as well, it was good that they didn't dumb Myers down any, he's still able to take a beating and keep on coming. A few gory kills as well :p

Aye, that was a tonk 61 year old lol

Guess he never missed leg day whilst working out in the asylum :D

Ooh, I also watched 'The Night Comes For Us' on Netflix last night.

Violent martial arts thriller starring several The Raid actors. It isn't as well put together as The Raid and the big fights have a habit of the old enemies coming 1 at a time but it was still very brutal and enjoyable. Definitely worth a watch if you liked The Raid or are a fan of martial arts films in general 7/10.

I think the Dr thing was meant to be Loomis had passed his obsession onto him, he was clear about Myers being taken alive while in the car. Seems like he just got obsessed to the point he wanted to experience what myers did to try and understand him, pretty much says that after the sheriff gets it.

Yep I got that but considering he is killed immediately after (which I expected to happen as it is Michael Myers - aka pure evil as mentioned several times) it just seemed a bit pointless and unnecessary overall.

I did think
the motion sensor scene in the garden was really well done

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood - 7/10

It is good and definitely worth a watch, at least once. Some parts do seem to drag and it feels a bit long overall but I can't say I was ever bored as its so well directed, shot and scripted any conversation is still interesting. But I will say Tarantino brings it all together at the end with a brilliant ending. It seemed a bit out of place but I thought it was great.

Brad Pitt's character stole the show for me. However I do feel once you've seen it once and know the ending it may not be as impactful another time. I would have given it a higher score as it is very much the kind of movie you have to just let yourself get sucked into and enjoy the typically 'mundane' parts of the film but I did factor in the reduced impact of the ending a second time.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse - 8/10

Actually my second time seeing it but can't recommend it enough if you have even a passing interest in comic book movies. I tend to avoid most animated movies as I never find them that good but this is great, it takes 20-30 minutes to get used to the animation which does look amazing but has a jerky, I forgot to wear my 3D glasses look to it but you get used to it and it is spectacular.

It looses a little steam at certain points but has a great soundtrack and voice actors in various roles but also has some genuinely great jokes (and in-jokes).

Also

Bloodline - 7/10

Stifler plays a serial killer. But the film is well shot, and Sean William Scott in the role is very good. Some decent gore and the story is ok. Worth a watch once at least for Scott's performance.

Wouldn't mind a few suggestions for a movie to sink eyes and brain into this evening, don't mind what genre but nothing with a heavy romance theme.

Films I like a lot:
Saving Private Ryan
Blackhawk Down
Blade runner films
SAW films
Hereditary (similar sort of horror themed flicks, e.g. It Follows, US, Get Out, Midsommar)
Scorsese/Tarantino films...

Thanks. :)

Random suggestion. The Nice Guys - Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. Thought it was very good and hilarious with a Tarantino feel.

Watched a film called 'Freaks' IMDB says 2018 but only seen it released this year.

Definitely worth a a watch. Best going into it knowing as little about it as possible. It's not the best Sci-Fi/Horror/Drama ever but a decent take on the genre.

7/10.

I watched 6 Underground as well. Agree with the above 5/10. The movie looked good but as with most Michael Bay films was all over the place. None of the characters were particularly memorable (although did appreciate certain shots of the female characters!). Some good action sequences (Magnet's being a highlight) but overall felt poorly edited.

Alligator - 1980

Just had a desire to watch an old, cheap looking, camp, poorly acted and directed creature feature from my childhood. I had to actually google a specific scene to find out the title.

It's pretty terrible in most regards but considering the age and the amount of rip-off's that came out around that time, they do pretty well, good use of real alligator footage using miniatures. And it actually does have one of the best (ie horrible) kills that I can remember, for anyone who has seen or remembers it, the swimming pool scene.

I watched Balls of Fury - It is awful in the best possible way, Christopher Walken doing his best Walken. I highly recommend it for a turn your brain off comedy with some genuinely good dialogue.

Panda's dead!

Sea Fever - Low budget sea horror with a few known actors. Slow burner but I thought it was well worth a watch, not necessarily something I would watch again but definitely give it a go if you have a passing interest in the genre - 7/10.

Beyond the Woods 2016 Low budget, Irish horror. 6/10 - it's very low budget, some acting and dialogue is a bit iffy but they came up with an interesting concept and I thought it was worth a watch.

I'm feeling in a generous mood today so:

Fantasy Island - 6/10

This has been massively slated and I wasn't in a rush to watch it but I just did. It's pretty stupid but to be fair I was generally entertained throughout. Don't think there is really anything original and of course for a horror its exposition heavy when needed. I probably won't watch it again. But i've seen much worse movies, especially horrors that I would rate far below this for general entertainment vaule. (It's probably a 5/10 but I watched the whole thing without pausing and doing something else so it deserves the extra point).

Nowhere Boy.

Available on YouTube. Pretty darn good, shows the early life of John Lennon. Well worth watching.

The whole cast does a great job (the chap that plays Lennon is excellent).

Think it's a bit of an unknown gem. Surprisingly the actor playing Lennon is Aaron Taylor Johnson who played Quicksilver in MCU and was in the 2014 Godzilla film. He can act it turns out.

Freaks - You're one of us - Netflix - German Film - 7/10

A small scale German superpowers movie. Obviously these are almost as frequent as the big budget Superhero movies now (maybe minus the German part) but this was still a decent watch. It's a cross of Chronicle, Kick-Ass, even Super and probably several other lower key Super film's. But I was entertained, strangely, some of the effects were terrible and some were really good. Lead actress is a cross of Amy Adams and Rebecca Ferguson imo.

Alien : 8.5/10
Aliens : 8.5/10
Alien 3 : 7/10
Alien Resurrection : 5/10 (the underwater scene is great plus Ron Perlman)
Prometheus : 6/10
Covenant : 6/10
Aliens Vs. Pedator : 4/10 (why was this PG13?!?)
Aliens Vs. Predator Requiem : 5/10 (Stupidly dark film but some cool/nasty gore plus PredAlien)

Almost Famous (2000)

Cameron Crowe's semi autobiographical film of a teenage Rolling Stone magazine journalist, who follows an up and coming band in the 1970's.

This one past me by when it was originally released. In fact I'd never even heard about it until now.

I really enjoyed this one and heartily recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

9/10

One of my top 5 movies. Always recommend it whenever I can.

Watched Spider-Man 1 and 2 back to back as not seen them in years.

I did not realise how fast/choppy the editing is of 1 for the first 45 mins or so until it slows down a bit. Still a very fine effort though and lots to like.

I still don't like 2 as much as a lot of people, whilst definitely a good film some slow parts and it also made me not like MJ as much (she leaves a guy at the altar for god sake lol) but upon rewatch many years later the second has a much more racially diverse side/extras cast that I didn't notice prior after watching it straight after number 1.

Yep, am gonna do 3 but I might wait a little longer :p
