What have you done to your car today?

Drove it, and loved every minute. First time stretching its legs since the suspension refresh and my, it feels a delight now!

Still needs an alignment which should be done this week now, so I can only imagine what it'll run like after that's sorted too.

Its OK, the guy who sent me the wrong shock has sent me the right one free of charge including fast postage, arranged to have the correct shock put on etc. Will be fine... :p

Also MX5Nutz tell me that quite a lot of MK1/2's burn a lot of oil and one of the knowledgeable guys on there recommended that I try a thicker ester synthetic based oil which should minimise the amount it burns... So at his recommendation I bought the most expensive oil I've ever bought. Gulf Competition 15W50 Ester Synthetic.

Fingers crossed it makes a difference... Not a solution but y'know!

Send it back and save your money, that's a load of nonsense. I've known some of the worst piles of turd mx5s going and they don't use a lot of oil unless the engine is knackered.

15w50 is going to do more harm than good in the long-run. I don't even run a xW50 in mine and it has to deal with a lot more heat than your oil

Yep, mine doesn't smoke and uses maybe half a litre every 1000 miles. It's done 113k miles and sees 7500rpm pretty much every time it's driven

Finally fitted the rear mudflaps.

Is the MX5 a track only car? If not, I definitely wouldn't be running it with a 50 weight oil on the road.

**** sake :p

Alright. 10W40 it is. I did wonder if a 50 weight would be too much but I just bowed to the (what I assumed was) superior knowledge. To be honest I don't know much about oil!

I think I'll be able to change the item on the order... Sent Opie an email and left a callback message. :)

Not mine per se, however my Dad surprised me with being insured on the Turbo so I was having a mega day on Sunday. Although I thought it would make me dislike the MX5, they are such different cars that I still love driving it. The 911 feels like warp drive in comparison :D

Lovely looking car :)

I've told Opie to continue with the 15W50 rather than change it for the 40 weight. Want to give it a go... Go big or go boom. :p I mean home. :p

Issue seems to have lessened since cleaning out the PCV valve too so I'm going to grab a new one from Mazda just in case, since they are so cheap and easy to change.

Got me re-trimmed wheel back today. Think I will be getting my gear gaiter done the same as well. Marked improvement over the 22 year old worn shiny wheel before. Also installed a big red button to switch to a secondary boost preset because you never know when you need it :P.

So no drilled discs for my z4 either with this insurer!

it's classified as a mod that is not allowed... together with 35 other items.

Come next year I'll pay a premium to go for mod friendly insurer as even basics like drilled rotors are an issue with Churchill.
