What have you done to your car today?

Tipped a can of BG44k in to the tank and filled it up, whether or not it does anything we shall see, but it was cheap enough and I don't know what petrol the cars been ran on for the last 12 years. Since I've had it its only had premium but I figure it couldn't hurt to try and clean it a bit. Seems to be the only cleaner with a bit of science behind it too, but again no loss if it does sod all!

@Invertigo did this turn out any good?

What have I done to my car today... kerbed it :(

Didn't notice that one of the kerbstones was jutted out compared to the rest, reverse parking into a tight space and paid more attention to not hitting cars, then I heard "crunch" :(

Oh well, new alloy ordered, I don't trust refurbished diamond cut wheels. Getting it refurbed anyway, but I'll sell the refurb.

Car has been delivered to Audi, waiting for warranty company to give OK to diagnose and sort DPF sensor issue.
When the car was towed on Saturday, the driver said that my courtesy car through Audi Assistace was limited to a 'Group B' i.e. Polo.

A Mazda6 2.0 was dropped off. In some ways I would have preferred a Polo as this thing is horrid.
Perhaps this one has been abused, but it's just clunky, notchy and not a particularly nice place to be, contrary to all of the rave reviews. Maybe I'm just used to German.

Also, WTF is with the doors automatically locking when I get out and close the driver's door? What if I want to get my bag off the back seat??
Also, why don't any Japanese cars gas struts on the bonnet? At least there's no Casio clock ala GT86 :p

I got 2 of them which do? In fairness I had to replace the struts on the MarkX because they were shot at 10 years old, this doesn't ever happen with an old fashioned rod.

Repurposed the glovebox torch to become a 12v adapter. Torch was absolutely useless as it was.

You mean 6R? Edit, or 9N?

6R has no strut, at least on the wife's 2011 it doesn't. Perhaps higher specced ones did?

6N (96 on or thereabouts) might have had gas struts, but it's been a while since I've done a Windscreen on one so my memory is a little rusty. the 9N (2002ish onwards) had gas struts, then the 6R doesn't. There's just no logic to their choice to fit them or not

Aside from the above, resolved my sheared bolt issue by picking up a replacement hub from a scrappy, paid £15 rather than bash my head against a wall trying to drill out a hardened steel bolt, jobs a goodun!

Got the rear struts swapped over too, and one of them literally had no rebound and the other had very little. If you compressed it, it would just stay where it stopped... no wonder the rear felt a bit hard over bumps!

That was an option, but I have a couple of high powered LED torches already in the car, so the 12v socket seemed the more functional choice :p

Good thing is it powers up when the car is unlocked, meaning no more need to start the engine or turn the key to quick-charge the phone, or run the camera for a short while.

The Cree LED mod for the torch does look very good though! Although I'm still dubious about heat dissipation due to the plastic casing. The layer of copper as heatsink isn't enough to transfer heat away in a plastic housing given how hot these Cree LEDs get!

Reminds me, I still need to finish refurbishing my glove-box torch. Need a new rechargeable cell for it and a new bulb, then I can get on with putting it back together. :)

The 12v mod is intriguing though. Would be a good place to plug in a sat-nav etc, but I like it being OEM+, don't want to hack things about too much.

BMW actually (used to) sell the same 12v adapter, you're just making the same thing and not giving BMW ££ for one.

Activated some extra bits on my Mondeo.

Digital speedo, actual tire pressure readings, auto lock, and changed the power sockets to go off after 1 minute instead of 1 hour, turned of auto re-lock.

Fitted LED reverse lights so now the rear is fully LED, dont know why they used a standard bulb for the reverse only.

My GT86 has gas struts on the bonnet :D Also the Casio clock fits in nicely with all the other red lighting in that cluster :)
:p

Another annoying thing about this Mazda6. It has electric memory seats, but every time I get in, the seat has moved all the way back, and it won't move forward unless I move it back. I've had to save my seat position. In a 3-day loaner!
