What have you done to your car today?

Just managed to back the parents car into a low wall. Quite embarrassing.

Funnily enough, their parking sensors didn't even pick it up (R60 Countryman), but does pick up high kerbs. so I'll soon see what the damage is for fixing the damage.

A mate came around with a nice motorbike he has on loan (from the Ducati press fleet no less, he reviews motorbikes for GQ magazine for a living, a tough life indeed). thought it matched my car quite well :D

Then went for one last roadtrip around Wales before the car goes to its new owner. Properly fantastic drive over two days despite very changeable weather conditions, think I'll miss the car a lot for trips like this - the extra ~60bhp over stock, Ohlins/Eibach suspension setup and more focused tyre setup moves the Mx5 up a notch, felt really really good on these roads. Selling it will mean I can put more money away each month for a house though. A bittersweet trip in some ways.

What car? If it will only cost £200~ more to convert it, why not I say...

agreed.

It's a z4 pre-facelift.

do the hydro conversion if it's easy enough. Afaik just using e46 parts you can do it? will be a great selling point too!

Perhaps, it's just whether or not I can face the workload! Rebuilding the column is easy, I pull it out, ship it off and refit when it comes back, whereas hydro conversion requires a new (rebuilt) rack, pump and pulley, reservoir, piping, an oil cooler fitting somewhere and then electrical tinkering to stop the car throwing a wobble every time it can't find the EPS.

So the cost is roughly double, but the involvement and effort required is significantly higher. Add to that the rebuilt EPS comes with a lifetime warranty and it just seems the far easier path.

That, and one part that can cost a fair whack is the intermediate shaft. The E46 one doesn't fit, nor does the standard Z4 one. Means you need the Z4M part which I believe retails around £300 on its own...

I'd also begrudge having to pay for another alignment when I've just had it done last month!:o

Fitted the stupid light kit in the pouring rain. Found the person before me had snapped one of the brackets for the number plate lights and stuck it back on with silicone
