What have you done to your car today?

Bought some gear linkage rods but didn't replace them in the end, the bushes seemed to be ok so just re-greased them and the joint under the gear stick and they're changing a lot smoother.

Next is the replace the speakers as the passenger door side one distorts at a normal volume. Hopefully it's just a simple swap over? I'm replacing with 2 way coaxial ("Edge EDST215").

Dropping the existing column to get the motor pinion out was the hardest part, a massive pain! Fitting the hydraulic parts was pretty simple as they're all designed for the block. Not sure if it'd be different for you with the N52?
I'd love to get it done but I think it'll be above my DIY level.. no idea how it is on n52 as with everything else I guess more complex as m54 was just easier to work with. Simpler engine.

The backbox managed to work its way out of the connecting sleeve to the exhaust pipe on the Corolla earlier. Sounded awesome going into lift, if a little obnoxious... I shall fix it in the morning :p :p

Weekend photos! Didn't take nearly as many as planned, but alas such is life.

Making space for the install

Old intermediate shaft detached from old rack (E46 rack pinion is smaller, so had to swap to an intermediate shaft from the Z4M)

Pipes and reservoir in! The return feed isn't actually sitting on the alternator, just perspective.

Refurbished E46 purple tag rack in and piped up.

And, while I was at it and had to take out the electric motor to remove the pinion gear, I used the opportunity to tidy the seats up. Drivers bolster was particularly faded and in all honesty could probably do with new foam, but that's a job for another day. Quite happy with how they turned out.

Right so the Corolla's backbox came out of its connecting sleeve and I got a quick video because it sounded pretty rowdy... (now fixed) - But this accelerated my childish idea to remove the rear box on the E30 and fit straight pipes... So here is a video of the Corolla, and the E30 with mid-box only! Foot hard down in the E30 video at around 2:00... :p

Bloody asbo ;)

Bought a new rear numberplate. The original one was a Toyota dealer one was starting to de-laminate at the edges and was looking a bit tatty.
So given that I'd already given the boot lid some attention by de-badging it last week, thought a new clean plate without all the dealer text would neaten it up a bit more.

Now I might give the interior a clean. I really know how to live at the weekends.
