My Z4 now has a (nearly finished) hydraulic power steering setup. Yay!
awesome! how difficult was it ?All finished and working perfectly! Feels significantly better than the electric setup, plenty of feedback and no kickback.

I'd love to get it done but I think it'll be above my DIY level.. no idea how it is on n52 as with everything else I guess more complex as m54 was just easier to work with. Simpler engine.Dropping the existing column to get the motor pinion out was the hardest part, a massive pain! Fitting the hydraulic parts was pretty simple as they're all designed for the block. Not sure if it'd be different for you with the N52?
Right so the Corolla's backbox came out of its connecting sleeve and I got a quick video because it sounded pretty rowdy... (now fixed) - But this accelerated my childish idea to remove the rear box on the E30 and fit straight pipes... So here is a video of the Corolla, and the E30 with mid-box only! Foot hard down in the E30 video at around 2:00...
Dat gear change tho

Bloody asbo
Basically 300bhp/tonne@Frozennova what's that power to weight ratio now?
Basically 300bhp/tonne
Weighs 1050kg with 2/3 a tank of fuel

Not too shabby for built on the drive and self mapped
