What have you done to your car today?

Obviously didn't do it myself but had my M135i put through its first MOT which it passed with one note - nail in rear left tyre - that would explain the loss of pressure in it then wouldn't it. As both rears were under 3mm I had planned to replace them shortly anyway (but that could have waited until January), which meant a nice £280 out of my pocket (using tyresonthedrive and not BMW who wanted £220 a corner). Went for Eagle F1 3s as liked them when I last had them.

You'd happily wait 2 months driving on <3mm rears in winter, when the roads are generally pretty sodden, in a somewhat powerful rear wheel drive car, presumably on summer tires? You're clearly more trusting than I am!

My car's in the garage getting a new power steering pump just to get rid of an annoying squeak it has occasionally (and yep, I'd already tried changing the belts first). It's the pump pulley bearing but as is usual these days it comes as a whole part only so I'll be £200 down.

Shouldn't be too much of an issue if they are still on 3MM. I'd be looking to change, but wouldn't worry too much about using them for another couple of months. Unless you will do thousands of miles in that time of course. :p

It is about how you apply the power when you are driving to the conditions at the time. If you do neither it doesn't matter what tread you have as you will end up in a ditch.

No doubt, and the same applies to braking - but you cant account for stupidity of people and others actions. Breaking distance significantly increases when you combine low tread with wet weather and colder temperatures. To each their own.

64 plate focus had to go in the garage for a new crank shaft sensor. Mechanic said no idea why it would have to go in for one, never seen one faulty on such a new car.

£108 later, all fixed.

Mrs broke down at the light down the road, AA came out and plugged it in, was the crank sensor. Went to motorfactors, got one for £28. Looked identical to the one on the car, but wouldnt start, original one back in would start. Ordered genuine ford's one, was only £2 extra, worked no problem. Moral of the story, any sensors, would always go for genuine.

Also bought some forte advanced diesel treatment too, when you first start the car from cold (freezing outside), idle use to be a bit iffy sometimes. After 10 miles with the stuff in, car seems genuinely smoother, and even the mrs noticed a difference. Treatment helps clean egr, turbo etc, so happy today.

haha, wont have the angry exhaust note that z4 does :D

Ha. Replacing a Z4 3.0 coup with a MK1 MX5. I like it. :p

back to basics!

Any reason for selling the z4?

Honestly, it's a great car and I love it to bits but we have 3 two seater cars in house and I have decided to get rid of the z4 and get a big comfy daily driver. Z4 does all that but I'm too worried about dings, scratches etc when parking it up during the day near work.

I bet I'm going to miss it because it always feel special to drive, sounds great and is a great all around car but I'm too tempted by something like toyota mark x or a chaser or another big jap saloon.

Just changed airfilter

Old one looked grubby after 35k Miles.
But clearly working well to stop stuff as the upper air box is spotless, nice little trumpet too.

Wow! Where have you been driving to get an air filter that dirty in 30k miles?!

I watched fake Britain tonight and found out I have fake Osram bulbs in my car. They are on 24/7 and have been fine for over a year so they must be at least good fakes :p

Oh dear! Where did you buy them from?

Ebay but they were only £50 for the pair so I should have known better. :P Even still my lights are on 24/7 and have been going strong for nearly two years now so have paid for themselves really! Too be honest the fake was really good. Wasn't until i took the back off and saw the PCB that I found out! All the pointers the Youtube videos point out were the same on the fake.
