What have you done to your car today?

Built up the new B4 shocks with original springs and new top bearings and mounts.

Wife can't stand my car due to the B12 suspension firmness and as my motto is "happy wife = happy life" I have agreed to go back to stock levels of suspension.

And tbh, I kind of am annoyed at how firm the b12 are, I didn't mind before as I drove a lot on the motorway, but now I do small trips to work and most of the roads are poor it's become horrible.

One of my aftermarket LED headlight bulbs has fried itself so ordered some more.

Also replaced the wipers with Bosch Icon and they clean the screen perfectly! Hopefully it'll last

Not that different to BMW, Audi and the like is it?

Or any other Volvo?

It is expensive.

Golf £150 including oil, £100 supplying oil.

BMW £150 supplying oil, after a bit of haggling £200 including oil which works out cheaper than supply the oil yourself unless you get a deal on it. I assume they do this as they are paying less than £50 for the oil. Even with no discount the fixed price is £270.

Audi service £170 before haggling.

Not today, two days ago but I have finally come to terms with my stupidity enough to admit it.
Had my first smash in 18 years and around 325000 miles by swinging my company car out of a parking space and wiping out the side of the car parked next to me :o In the works car park :o :o Caving in the door of the guy who has the desk opposite me :o :o :o

Went down to Brands Hatch to get my Exige noise tested as I was planning on booking for Bedford next month.

At 6k RPM (limiter @8.5k and cam change at 6.2k) I read 101.5 DB and 103.3DB just above cam change.

With a 101 DB limit I think Bedford's now off and I'll need to make sure any day is +103DB static just to be safe :(

Got 4 New tyres fitted on the Focus - went with Dunlop Sport BluResponse as seemed the best option in the size it needs (215/55R16)

Leakage on cylinders 2&3 which are the two down on compression is perfectly acceptable at 15-20% but with some leakage between the two

Cylinder 1 however 80% leakage with it making its way into cylinder 3

What's the plan of action then? New engine or rebuild?

Pull the head off see how much damage has actually been done.

Depending what I find either rebuild or buy a low mileage engine to swap in.

Edit: with as much leakage as its got on number 1 it might as well be a 1.4 3 cylinder at the moment

Tried to repair a couple of tiny pinholes on my fuel tank that was causing a tiny fuel weep. Tried JB-Weld. Seemed to work. Went for a test drive. Ordered a new fuel tank instead. Arse.

I have them on my Corolla (smaller size, ofc), I rate them less so than the budgets she came with. Bizarre as they review really well, but seem to perform like an entirely different tyre.

I went based on the reviews and the fact they were a more recent tyre than most of the other options. Had conti premiumcontact5 on the front which wore quickly and always looked flat, and Michelin primacy 3 on the back, which had been on it since new I think and were cracking due to age.

Feel ok so far, but will feed back in a couple of months - may be one of those tyres that's more size/vehicle dependant than others.

Paid a man with some spanners* to have a tinker with the backbox. It now sounds like a sports car as well as looking like one!

Also had a new key cut and my roof motor relocated to the boot.

*"spanners" may include lifts, welders etc

I nearly put them on the fiesta this time round too - now glad I just stuck with the Hankooks.

Odd as I'm still impressed with the new sportmaxx on my ST
