What have you done to your car today?

This one is 100% bone stock, 1.8S UK, 1997, silver with original hard top, 40,000 miles from new, Torsen type 1, appears to be immaculate inside and out. Friend of mine is selling it who is quite local so I can view it properly etc. Wants a swap with my Corolla. (2.3~K)

My main concern to be honest, is that it is too good for me! I would want to at the very least change the suspension and wheels, and I'd also want to skid it occasionally... But it looks like a show queen not a drift pig...

I've seen that for sale, has been around for a while.

If you want a mint mx5 then that makes sense, suspension and wheels won't ruin the car as long as you don't start bashing the arches, sticking over fenders or drilling boot for silly spoilers..

Stick with quality suspension, wheels etc and it'll only he improved. If you can get it as a straight swap for the 'rolla I'd do it. When I bought mine I saw that but it was out of my budget. Think he had it up for 5k or so.

Its still on Facebook market place for over £3k :) has had sills repaired but most would have at that age I guess..

I've put it to him, he's having a think... Apparently he's had a Celica T-Sport before and misses it... Fingers crossed... Insurance is cheap too! :p

£530 fully comp stock, £570 fully comp with wheels and suspension. - And thats without actually phoning any brokers.

Have made the final payment on my car so now own it outright :) Wish I had the cash spare to spend on other things now, but the car payment has moved on to other debts first, lol.

yeah I got £530 for my mx5 fully comp with all mods declared.. on multicar policy with admiral :) including commuting usage as I do take it to work every other day. Worked out a few hundred cheaper on multicar than it would have been separately. Admiral has been alright too with support, since most can be done on their online portal so I don't have to deal with phone support :D

The original plan here was to sell the Corolla and buy a tatty MX5 and free up some money in the process, but I seem to be swapping plus cash for a mint one... Much confuse.

what ever you wanna call it both needed work that was not cheap and major.. :D the NB was much better than NA but do you really want to risk it again? ;)

NB just needed the chassis rails chopping out before they got too horrendous, probably could have left it a few years if I so wanted. TheMX5Restorer said the same. 700 quid to fix, but would likely be the same price if I went back in a couple of years because it wasn't horrendous yet.

Whereas the NA was unusable... :p

Do I want to risk it again? Um... Yeah why not. :D (no)

Nah the cheap insurance of the 5, as well as the modability etc are tempting me to dive back in one. The change from not buying a Z is enough to fit a turbo lol.
sounds like you need to make your mind up :D if you want mx5 then go for the silver one! especially if you can swap it for little to no money.

if you want a 350z which is a completely different beast then aim for that haha.
