What have you done to your car today?

Does depend what they need to do to properly remove and strip it / whether any badges will need replaced etc mind you - I'm about to pay £200 for mine because I want it to be absolutely spot on and for the whole bumper to be stripped down / blended if needed, whereas when I had the Octavia wing painted and blended round to the bumper I wasn't as bothered (still looked spot on mind) and so paid less for effectively two panels

A while ago I noticed a small dent on the front of my car that must have been the previous owner's fault. It isn't obvious at all when looking at it normally but now I know it's there it sticks out like a sore thumb. The pictures do make it look a bit worse than it actually is to be fair.

The car is absolutely filthy and it does need a damn good clean but the paintwork is fine and everything is intact even on the dent. Is there any point getting this sorted out or is it best I just put up with it and leave it alone? If I did consider sorting it, what sort of cost would I be looking at?

Personally I wouldn't bother, as can almost guarantee as soon as you do, you will end up with a stonechip or similar on that bit or elsewhere on the front, and then it's a question of when/where do you stop.

Assuming that lip is a separate part to the bumper, shouldn't cost too much (~£100 maybe). Issue is majority of cost is actual paint cost, in that they generally have to mix a minimum amount anyway, so can often work out more cost effective to get another panel (e.g. rear bumper if marked) painted at the same time.

I am not sure I would bother but if you can find a decent small bodyshop its less than £100 to put it right. Ever since I found the shop I use now I haven't been anywhere else and that even includes free jobs off of my uncle who runs a chain of bodyshops. When it takes them 2 days and only £350 to put this right on my mrs car you cant really complain. They didn't do the door I picked that up for £60 on ebay:

The only problem with this place to be fair is it's just two guys running out of a small unit in an industrial estate and they always seem to have a fairly long waiting list.

I even refurbed those wheels myself and have had that one checked over to make sure it is safe this is what that wheel looked like after, it is far from perfect but they are a set of spares with tyres now.

To be fair to her she hasn't had any issues since but went through a little stage of destruction not long after passing her test. I am even considering insuring her on the audi now. :)

Blooming nora!! :p

How is it even possible to wreck a wheel that badly? :p

I asked the same question... how did you not feel it? She still maintains to this day that she didn't feel that happen. I asked if she hit something like a massive kerb and she was like, nope!

I've done worse xD but I sure as hell felt it, the whole car jumped up! went around a roundabout at night and miscalculated it and hit the kerb in the centre.. resulted in the whole car jumping up and wheel looking pretty much the same, not all around just one big ding. Took a bit of hammering to get it right(it was only a lip that was damaged)

Today Installed one of them OBD2 E327 in Zee and had a play with it.

Fixed small rip on drivers side seat bolster my way.... 3M black duck tape.

Ripped out stock bluetooth handsfree module... Wont use it cant Pair with Lg G4 anyway just waste of space in the middle compartment.

Had a look at oul after spin to Doncaster. Looks like its not burning extra over what VQ35DE. Love how Nissan made small compartment in boot for 1 liter Oil can THEY KNEW :D

How do you repair that wheel yourself?? Do you own a smelter? :p

Have you found a replacement yet? Still set on an S-Type R?

Late reply again, sorry! Strangely enough I ended up going down an entirely different route and bought myself an Abarth 500 a few weeks ago. The idea of a hot (well, moderately warm in this case) hatch appealed, and after a test drive I was smitten.

They're not perfect, but jolly good fun. It's quite 'old school' with the turbo boost. So far 4 people have driven it and all have commented along the lines of 'it's faster than I thought' :D

Most important thing is that it's got a bit of charm, like the Elise did, so I'm pretty happy with it...For now :D

Yes, yes I do.. I simply smelted the wheel and re-cast it :D seriously though the damage wasn't actually that bad and didn't make it that far through as to damage the bead area so I ground out the damage knocked out the slight buckle on the bead with big hammers. After that I used alloy epoxy to rebuild the profile and away I went :p

I didn't use one of those dodgey epoxy sticks I used one that comes in a tub and small tube of hardner which I now can't seem to Google.

Nice, it's so hard to actually dislike the Abarth 500, I really like them. Sadly I went to test drive one a few years ago and the gear lever surround and my left knee had a big argument, which I lost. Not a car for tall big people.

Quite a difference from the fast barges you were looking at though!
