Dam you Ali, dam you to hell ....

The driveway looked like a scene from Dexter, with the amount of splatter following oil change.

Bargain fuchs supersyn oil from 10% ebay day arrived, but as opposed to gushing per normal into the oil capture pan, the wind was catching it, and must have been 0.5 L blown off course .. out with the swarfega and scrubbing brush, forensic cleanup

Timing belt, aux belt, dephaser, water pump/coolant and an oil and filter change on the Clio 182 at a specialist. I also had a go at tidying up the headlights using a 3M kit. Much better than they were, but not perfect couldn't get some of the heavier corrosion out.

Don't forget the UV protection else it'll go misty again. I need to do the MX5 headlamps as the previous owner did them then didn't put on the UV stuff so its gone again within a year.

The car is up for sale, I will leave it up to the next owner. :)

Dropped the wife's car in to chipsaway to get a dent pulled out of the door and painted. Thankfully not her fault, and the 3rd party left details and have already paid chipsaway :)
Out of curiosity, what was the damage and how much did it cost?

Made is clean again after everyone telling me how dirty is was at the OCUK meet last weekend. The gunge from the front rads is now gone....including the fag end!

Terrible weather meaning the fun was rained out lunch time but I went to Santa Pod for the MX5 Shootout again and showed the fellow hairdressers how it's done.

Second best pass I've ever made so time to leave the car alone in power department and enjoy it now

The crap I pull out of the front rads on the porsche is unreal! Fag ends seem to be fairly common. Fossilised insects are the next biggest offender.
Want to pop the side intakes off at some point and see what's accumulated in there.

My car needs paintwork. I touched up some chips this morning, but sitting down at the front of the car to clear out the radiator grills showed me how massively pockmarked the front of the car is and how nothing I do will make it look good up close. So will take it to my local specialist and get a quote for front bumper (effectively the entire front), bonnet (front boot to be accurate), window pillars and roof and probably rear bumper. Makes me wonder if a full spray is not the most sensible approach and then some coating.

Anyone got any experience of full resprays (same colour) on cars like my R8?

Same as doing any other respray, if you take it to shorade as before then it will look like its come out the factory if they do a full panel off job.

I would then use the opportunity while all the panels are off to have it sprayed with Ngenco at Litchfields (a spray on paint protection film ive been testing on my splitter for a while now and its fantastic) to protect it moving forwards. It's super high gloss as well, so makes the car paint look like glass.
