What have you done to your car today?

Isn't it amazing that despite how often you call people boring, grandad, etc etc you've still yet to end up with a car that's anything but either of those :D

OK mr diesel 5 series. Pretty sure most cars I've owned are more fun and engaging to drive than your barge! ;)

And its so the wheels fit under the arches better. :p

I'd rather drive an F10 530D than a slammed, cambered up MX5, much more engaging and better to drive.

Yes you see, you have mistaken "adjust the ride height and camber" for "slam it with mad camber yo"

A good MX5 is a wonderful thing. However you seem almost allergic to such a thing.

2/3 of the MX5's i've owned have been fine. This one is just scruffy because I deliberately only budgeted £500 for it. I think you would struggle to get a more solid one for £500.

I'm sure you openly admitted you were going to do just that the other day!

I really don't understand the whole "scene" approach to MX5s that has become a thing in recent years. It's such a waste of such a wonderful chassis.

I said its going to be stupid / ruined / something, but its not going to be slammed with mad camber. The wheel setup is going to be fine just with a minor tweak to the camber, its on Koni coilovers which I don't really intend to wind down any further. - I just plan on painting it up. :p

I think that if you added up all the money you have thrown away on cars you'd have had rather more than 500 quid to spend on it and could have bought something nice.

I'm not sure what part of this you aren't understanding, but I didn't buy a £500 MX5 because I could only afford to spend £500 on an MX5... I bought a £500 MX5 because I wanted a cheap fun car which I don't have to care about.

I could have bought this one for example... But I couldn't very well paint it with a roller, screw wide arches onto it, and roll the arches could I?

What even is the point in that? It'll look and drive badly, as @Howard says, ruining a brilliant chassis and being scene which basically just means making it look utter trash and claiming it's cool, which it isn't unless you're 8 years old.

His money, his choices. I think people have given enough advice and opinions on the matter. There is only so much you can say/do.

He'll learn sooner or later.

Never a dull moment with ACME & forum friends.

OcUK motors is pretty much "I DONT LIKE IT THEREFORE IT IS WRONG!" :p

Get out of your own backsides and let me do what I want to do with my car and my money. I've already explained numerous times how the handling isn't one of the things which will be compromised, but people seem to like ignoring what I say because they prefer their own interpretation of the situation.

If you post your intentions on an open forum then you must expect criticism. You (surely) know the conservative approach to cars on this forum. You're an outlier in this field.

The people aren't suggesting what you're doing is foolish because they're trying to be counteract everything you say, they just don't understand why you do the things you do. Nobody is saying you can't, they're just saying you shouldn't. There's a difference.

You're going to do what you want anyway, so crack on, it's all the more entertaining for us who couldn't care less what you do with your time and money.

Rightly or wrongly you stir up more of a fuss than anyone else on Motors. There's some merit in that! :D

Do what makes you happy if you're not hurting anyone else.

Similarly, don't always ignore the sound advice of internet strangers :) there's a middle ground somewhere, I'm sure.
