What have you done to your car today?

I went out in a 500bhp S14 with RB25 as a passenger, the guy could drive... Flying at a wall with motorway speeds was interesting. :D

February? I've always put in 0w30, and in the service that's what they put in too and I did the same last year around the 6 month mark between service, a little top up.

You have the same lump as the focus st 225 right? If there are no leaks, possibly try 5w-30 if you're not tuned.

I say this because on 0w-40 my car was burning quite a bit. This is focus rs recommended spec oil. There were no leaks etc. I know when my car was on 5w30 it didn't use a drop.

I've moved over to 5w-40w fuchs titan race pro s and no oil lost what so ever. Maybe you could try 5w30 next service. I feel it shouldn't be burning oil. Especially if you're standard.

Polished & waxed the new wheels ready for swapping the tyres for my winters. Managed to get a good deal on ebay as they are immaculate, all came with TPMS sensors and all of the tyres are basically new.

No it’s still stock, I’m not concerned about it using half a litre after 6 months or 5-6k miles. I don’t think that’s a problem but I’ll ask the garage at next service what they think.

I’d expect you’ll get close to that given mine fetched what it did with a knackered gearbox and engine, whilst granted it was a Sport model the wheels weren’t in great condition nor were they the desirable M-Par’s either and the bodywork was crumbling in all the usual e39 places so basically it’s value was the interior - which was very good overall - and little else.

Yours running well with some history and a verifiable mileage will stand out to somebody wanting either a project or an engine donor car...

Be sure to post what you eventually get for it.

Well, you weren't far wrong mate, it finished up at £697.50.

The chap is collecting next Sunday morning and is intending on driving it home. His eBay profile suggests he lives in London - I'm from the Midlands - but hey, his call.

Crazy amount of interest in the car though, multiple messages, 2172 page views, 66 watchers, and 12+ unique bidders.

This has been ultra low on my list of things to try but today I was bored so figured why not.

The sound insulation piece that sits under the bonnet lid. Some say induction sound is a lot more audible with it removed, other say there's little difference. The CSL doesn't have one installed so it certainly isn't a fire safety piece.

Verdict? Little difference. Maybe a stock intake car will make the engine a bit more audible but the Eventuri overpowers any engine noise.

That intake

Yesterday I embarked upon a mission of failure. Wife's E39 has a coolant leak, so I got all the bits together to sort it out. Apparently it'd been steaming a bit 2 weeks before, but she hadn't told me. I moved the car last Sunday and heard a bang when I revved it, but couldn't work out what it was. Fast forward to yesterday and it so transpired that the cooling fan grenading itself was the bang I heard a week before. To compound the issue further, I couldn't do the '**** the big spanner with a hammer to undo the viscous coupling nut' trick, as the transmission wouldn't lock because the battery was dead, so I had to give up half way through and order a locking tool and new fan.

On the plus side, I got to take out some frustration by cleaning my TT and fitting a Leon Cupra R splitter to its front bumper, so it wasn't all bad.

Rolled the rear arches, fitted wheels to the rear, removed some of the front bumper support to stop the wheels rubbing, fixed the drivers door lock, fitted a mirror, diagnosed why the blower motor wasn't working (corroded fuse contacts), failed to fix the horn, (it sounds like Olivers horn from Top Gear) :p

Got underneath it, still shocked at how solid it is.. I think it has the original exhaust...

Needs camber and height fiddling with but no rubs. :)

No it doesn't.
