I've seen someone replace the whole centre console with a tablet, very Tesla like. It replaced the whole aircon unit as well, but I think they were having issues getting it to integrate properly. It certainly looked the part anyway, but I think they only ever did LHD versions.

Anyone replaced the media centre in the GT86 with something more modern and updatable?

Thought it might be cool to whack something fresh in there sometime.

Surely something double din could fit in there?

Although the wiring loom/integration can be painful.

I did this in my CRZ and took an age to finally get everything working right.

Not sure, looked into it a couple of years ago but seemed like a lot of faffing and modding. I think I saw a thread somewhere where a chap ended up fitting an ipad mini, which looked ace, but again took a lot of work to get it all working well.

EDIT: Just done another google and found a neat vid where they didn't remove the old unit, but just mounted the ipad mini over the top, which seems like a pretty neat idea.

Looks like you can buy dedicated mounts now too, might have to look into that again.

Yeah, I think I saw that too ages ago, looked amazing, but a lot of modding. Probably pretty expensive too.

Wow, that's pretty slick. Great idea having the new facia 3D printed to fit.

Looks like a pretty new product, all the vids went up just last month.

Will be interesting to see how well the software is maintained and updated.

My car originally had a cloth interior without heated seats and last weekend I fitted some heated leather seats in which are all good, except the car doesn't have the wiring for heated seats and of course the buttons aren't there either. I'm not overly bothered about having heated seats but my previous car had it and it is a mild irritation knowing that the heating elements are there but just not connected. So today I have fitted a new climate panel with the heated seat buttons and made a start on running the wiring

Following on from this I managed to finish this up today. Fully working panel:

As an added bonus my replacement seats had the electric back rest width adjustment. Wasn't bothered about having electrical adjustment or memory seats or I would've bought and retrofitted those but since I just leave my seat in the same position and only I drive my car it wasn't worthwhile for me. However, since the functionality was there I decided to wire that up as well. Just need to get some proper sleeving or figure out a way to sort out the under seat wiring to make it a little neater. Though to be fair you can only see it if you look under the seats for it:

All good though, everything worked first time which is nice. I found it interesting that the fuses for the heated seats and backrest width adjustment were already present in the fuse box in places with missing terminals.

Just changed my rear-wipers earlier/this morning, the one I bought the connecting point is a lot thinner than the one that was originally on and it felt like it might fly off..but it's not so its all good lol.

Just booked my Mini Cooper S in at the dealership for next week.

- £626.30 including labour and VAT for a new High Pressure Fuel Pump - that's with 50% good will contribution from BMW :(
- £295 to replace the oil solenoid valve which is leaking onto part of the wiring harness so part of that is getting changed aswell. If it's left and it goes further it can end up costing thousands.

Seriously annoyed to say the least.

Why would you fit a second hand fuel pump that is well know for having issues ? Sometimes it’s best to bite the bullet and just get it done properly.

That's why home DIY mechanics is great. How much of a job is it to do the HPFP? How old is the car? I would probably have bought one from a breaker and fitted it myself.

Like Simon said, it's a common problem so I don't really have a choice. I contacted various independant specialists and they generally quoted around £800 because the cost of the part is so high. Cheapest I could find a new part was around £600 so there's no point doing it myself. If it wasn't for the 50% goodwill from BMW I would've done that though. Just ***** me off because its a recognised fault in America so the HPFP is covered for 10 years and 100k miles .

Have you tried the website mr auto? That’s generally quite cheap for parts.
