What have you done to your car today?

Wheels aligned along with the new tyres that went on last weekend. Drives beautifully now. Will give it a good clean this afternoon.

Need to get mine aligned at some point. But only because there’s a slight pull to the left. Not noticeable unless you let go of the steering wheel, even then it’s very slight.
Going to wait until I do a load to the suspension.

However, mine drives beautiful now the wheels are properly balanced.

Did a bit more on the mx5 today:

Cleaned rear brake calipers and greased the slide pins.

Replaced the rear OEM flexible brake hoses for braided.

Bled the rear calipers - I love my pressure bleeding kit.

Also resolved a P0661 fault - intake runner control valve low voltage (only a grey fault, so no CEL). I did some testing last weekend and one of the 2 solenoids had an open circuit. I connected wired directly from the battery to the power terminals and there was no noise, but when connected the other solenoid I could hear it operating.

So, even though I couldn't confirm the exact part, I took a punt on a replacement £9 eBay solenoid which is for some Mazdas, and it was exactly the same.

After swapping it for the duff solenoid today, both solenoids for the intake runners now working fine and there's no fault code.

The car ran well anyway, but it does seem a bit smoother on light throttle and when cruising. Probably a placebo effect.

Anyway, very pleased with today's tinkering.

Good job they’re not diamond cut… oh.
Did this to my wife’s new car, during the first dump of snow after Christmas. 20” diamond cut wheel. I’ve only just arrange for it to be repaired next week.

Also today I’ve purchased a set of MPS4S for my C63S. Just under a grand from BlackCircles. Was going to wait until after summer, but I want to enjoy the car now and the MPSSs are a total liability!

How much should I budget?

I did a bit worse than that to my passenger side front wheel. I was on a narrow road and a 4x4 came the other way, on my side there was a kerb and on their side was a grass verge, only the 4x4 didnt want to put their wheel on the grass verge so I tried to get as close to the kerb as possible and heard a crunch / grinding noise as I ground the wheel against the kerb whilst pulling forward so they could squeeze past. Made it look a bit better by taking a file to it and draw filling the kerbing and removing the burrs but still not good

Cost from a place near me:

Diamond Cut
18" - £110.00 per wheel
19" - £115.00 per wheel
20" - £125.00 per wheel

But cost and quality can vary on how bad the damage is. Do I see a small crack in yours?
No I don't think so; it is just the style of wheel. A quick wipe with a sponge and it doesn't look half as bad (still terrible).

£150 tops. What’s more important is whether they think they can do a top job. Will depend on the wheel style and the depth of the damage. My experience with diamond cut ‘repairs’ over 4 different wheels, is that some ‘specialists’ are more proficient than others. When they start sucking air through their teeth and suggest you go with a painted finish instead, don’t expect the finish to be 100% if you insist on diamond cut.

I ordered some new number plates today.

Private lease car so I don't get the V5, had it almost a year, went to book its 1st year service, only to discover the car was delivered with the wrong registration plates on it. The last two letters are the wrong way round. It's the Mrs' car, the reg that's on it doesn't exist, and she's been driving around in it all this time. With all the ANPR around these days, it's a wonder she's never been pulled by the Police.

Started fitting some wide arches to my amazing citroen c1 because it's mega! Will be even more fun when the spacers arrive (needed as this offset just clips the inner wing on the front wheels) and the angle grinder comes out on the car

Found a company that does bolt on supercharger kit for it... 1.0 3cyl supercharged seems exactly what needs to happen. Should take it to about 130hp :cry::cry:

I like them used to have a 107 myself.

With the bilstein shocks and 40mm springs all round, and a bit less rubber, they handle really well! Very fun car that costs nothing to run in fuel, can park anywhere and is a blast on the back roads. Literally just lacks about 50hp to get it the pep it needs!
I've actually just inherited an Aygo as well... don't know how. It needed an alternator, the people didn't want to do it, were going to just abandon it. Has MOT on it, so I said I'll have it. 100EUR alternator and good to go. Just need a 107 and I'll have the full set :D

With your username, sruprised you didn't know sooner :D

Took the Fiesta in to get a knocking noise from the Front left diagnosed. Suspected it would be the Lower Control Arm, as had it replaced before (2019) for a similar noise, and somewhat satisfied to find out it was.

Somewhat less satisfied with the £157 it will cost to replace and have the alignment done though, especially when I'm "giving" the car to my stepson who has recently passed his car test :D
