What have you done to your car today?

Well, washed my Volvo in the end then noticed on my way to work early this morning that I had no rear lights showing at all, no warning message on the dash, fuses seem fine.

I’m blaming the wash, I knew I should have left it…. :p :D

Managed to get my new steering wheel fitted :D

Might want to double check, but I think you've fitted a TTRS rev gauge to your R8?!?

Replaced the rear discs and pads on the old mans 335xd he's been crying about it for a while, outer pads on both sides seized in the carriers no wonder the disks were entirely rusted over on the outside.

Not something i've done, but i'm currently debating buying a Hard Top roof for a Jeep Wrangler for a car i don't actually own yet.

Pros
It's a cheap hard top roof and should i need one in the future i'll most certainly have to pay more - If i can even find one given they're not very common here in Spain that i can
It gives me to option to look at Jeeps which only come the soft top roof. At the moment i'm restricting the search to ones with a hard top (around 50% of available cars)

Cons
It fits the 1997-2006 TJ model Jeep. Whilst it's very likely this is the version i'll end up with, there's a chance i spend a little more and get a later JK model which wouldn't fit

The seller seems desperate as it was up for €700 and after an initial chat around which model it fitted, i offered €400 on the basis it's a risk if i'd even need it. This translates to ~£350 and is much cheaper than anything else i can see for sale, so i shouldn't in theory lose out should i need to re-sell.

Storage wise i can keep it at my parents place while we're back in the UK. So that's not an issue (i've not actually mentioned it to them...)

replaced a broken headlight unit in a MK5 Mondeo doesnt sound so hard but you literally have to remove the entire front bumper and wheel arch liner from the bumper to get access to the headlight unit.

I remember Ford getting a hammering for that at the time. Absolutely shocking design.

I had the wheels refurbished. They were done a year ago, but the place who did them last year didn't do the best job and a few weeks ago, a large nodule on the very edge of the rim came off when pressure washing (like they had left the wheel on a flat surface whilst the paint was still wet). So decided it was time to get them re-done.

Had them covered in Gtechniq C5 too, and gave the car a wash today.
Would love to know where you went as I'm looking to get mine done too and I know we are local to each other. There's a couple of place around here that I'm looking at.

Feel free to send me a message if you don't want to post on the forums. Thanks.

My Saabs exhaust has been sitting low for a while now so decided to do something about it. Upon removal it turns out the weld has gone where the centre section goes into the rear box. Too be fair the exhaust system is original and 19 years old/170k miles so I will let it off. Welded it back and a bit of oxy to adjust the hangers and it is sitting just right now.

Did the rear 3series shocks ...
WTF - then noticed a plastic bag with some additional monroe parts trapped in the end of box.
width of the bushing had looked identical to predecessor - but, they provide a 2mm washer too, to stack onto the lower bolt, so have the dilemma to add that tomorrow, if - I think it won't compromise thread depth into suspension.

youtube introduce me to pictured double wrench strategy as I don't have a breaker bar / spare scaffold.

Managed a new record of 17mpg in the Q7! 60 litres in 220 miles :D
This thing is just so capable cruising down the autobahn at 120mph, but why does it have to be an SUV? Why doesn't anyone make a massive estate?
Something like an A8 Avant or 7 Touring would be epic. Do you need added ground clearance to have 3-abreast seating in the back and 800L of boot space?

Did the last couple of bits to secure the new brake lines on the E46. Messed about with the handbrake which still needs more adjustment. Applied Lanoguard over the majority of the rear of the car. Took it for its first drive after being sat on axle stands for two months. I started it for the first time in nearly two months earlier in the week, didn't need a jump or the battery charging, it didn't actually kick up any sort of fuss and fired up and idled like I had just done a decent journey in it.

Either I've forgotten what the brakes feel like, or something isn't quite right as I'm sure they had more initial bite. I'm hoping they'll get better after the discs get cleaned up with use, but they may also require more bleeding. I have yellow DSC and handbrake lights on the dash which I'm hoping is just from where I've possibly disturbed a speed sensor connector on the back as they were all fine when the car was parked and there are no leaks from the new lines. Other than that it needs booking in for an MOT and then I can turn attention to preventative maintenance on the E92 as that needs to have the swirl flaps removed ASAP, crankcase breather replacing, charge pipe replacing and I think it may need drop links on the front.

Now the never ending cycle of replacing broken parts as an E46 and E92 owner begins.

ah the joys of old cars

took the bumper off to sort out a the aftermarket horn that gave up the ghost. ~15 snapped bolts later from the under tray its off and now to sort and clean up the rust once the old bolts are drilled out, glad its a long weekend!

Ah crap, just hit a pheasant....it pushed part of the bumper off it's bracket or something, right side is slightly off alignment and I can't push it back in place....I think it needs to come off, checked and put back together.

Just what i need.

expected to see a picture of pan fried pheasant (what I did with mine) - impeccable provenience compared to most of farmed meats on consumer table, or cars with the Chinese content.

jacked up and added the missing washer on rear struts .
Intend to mark the bolt positions in case there is any shift - those plastic indicators on hgv wheel bolts would be good, I guess I'll try a dab of touchup paint.

do you have any plans for sill interiors.

Not immediately because one rear wheel arch is fairly crusty now which means the sill won't be much better (probably worse), but the car has been up on axle stands for two months so the jacking points can't be that bad otherwise they would have collapsed already. The plan is to have someone who knows what they're doing cut and replace the rear quarter panel (also paint and blend) and take care of any issues with the sill/jacking points and once that is done I'll go at it with Lanoguard or anything else I have laying around. Oddly enough the passenger side sill looks really good around the jacking points so I'll probably get some cavity wax to spray over that using the plastic rivet holes along the underside of the sill for access.

The car won't be getting used over the winter from now on so once the really crusty bits are sorted it should last a few more years yet.

Dunno what was up last night but I was driving home around 10-11pm and there was a dead cat and 2x freshly dead badgers on the main road and a fox and a badger ran across in front of me as well - fortunately nothing I had to do more than slow up slightly for.

I'd like to be able to see inside mine, had naively taken front liner out a while back but you don't see anything, or, as far as I remember, when I ran an amplifier cable to boot and had to lift carpet/underlay+remove seat.
I've not understood how dirt/water can get inside, as drainage holes suggest; ideally I'd flush any dirt out with water.
