What have you done to your car today?

so in retrospect were there symptons clutch cylinder was going ? given the breakdown/corollary

[
bush carrier unbolted but doesn't/didn't descend far enough to clear sills and arches to enable unbolting the trailing arm and (the tough bit) extracting the bush
nightmare trying to re-bolt the carrier too, since needed lots of leverage (steel bar off of the top of another axle stand) fighting the suspension spring
(maybe raising the whole rear of the car and removing spring whilst carrier is re-bolted is the effective strategy)
realised anti roll bar may be limiting/hindering trailing arm extension on the side of the car jacked up - so jacking whole rear might have helped

Removed spacers from the Clio, so nice not having the wheels constantly scrubbing when turning etc :D

Wheels are ET50 vs stock ET68, it previously then also had 25mm spacers on front and 20mm on the rear and scrubbed horrendously (to the extent I probably need new front wheel arch liners)

Happy with how it looks now regardless :)

Different angles so hard to tell but whilst it's not as 'scene' it drives much better imo :)

What a ball ache that was!!! Fitted this awesome bit of kit just recently and went onto insurance to see if I had to have it insured as an extra. Sure enough I did. Upon selecting the induction kit under the list of mods it said I needed to call as the quote would increase. Phoned them up, NOPE we don't insure ANY engine mods even just a filter change. This was with Hastings :/

Phoned around and went through Adrian Flux who has now insured ALL my engine mods with just a £10 increase a month :) - Very happy!

ps I've never fitted one before, so it was all new to me at the time :)

So does that mean you had uninsured mods already? Or were they just incompetent when you took out your insurance with them?

A fair bit of heat soak no?

Never got the chance to drive the car with it fitted until I changed over.

As for heat soak, YES. But I'm going to get a bonnet vent maybe mugen and a cold air feed from bumper :D

A couple of years ago I upgraded the brakes on my MG ZT from the standard 284mm discs to the bigger 326mm discs from the ZT190 (same caliper as the E46 330). The calipers came with lightly used discs and pads so I fitted them at the time and had absolutely no issues with them. A very worthwhile upgrade!

I noticed that the front pads were getting low so late last year I changed them. Initially everything was fine but driving home one cold January evening I started to get a really nasty wheel wobble and plumes of smoke from the passenger side front wheel... great! Luckily I had a set of spare calipers that I'd intended to sell but hadn't got around to it, so a couple of days later I braved the wind and rain and changed the passenger side caliper and once again everything was fine. I figured maybe there was some corrosion on the piston, I ordered a rebuild kit but kept it to one side rather than immediately rebuilding the old caliper.

Fast forward a few months and a couple of days ago I noticed another wheel wobble and smoke, this time from the drivers side.... WTF! I've had issues with rear calipers sticking before, but never normally a front. Out came the other spare caliper and yesterday I swapped it out... I didn't know BMW calipers were servicable items! Thankfully the weather was a bit nicer this time and the whole job took about 40 minutes.

I swear by this 1 man bleeding method. No messing about with pressure caps or vacuum bleeders, I've never owned a car where the pressure cap will fit so don't even bother with them now. Instead, just add enough brake fluid to submerge the hose in a jar, crack the bleed nipple and pump the pedal.

The disc has clearly been running stupidly hot and now has a little bit of visible scoring, so that's a job for another day. At the same time I'll paint the calipers and if the brake unions play nicely, fit the braided lines I've had lying around for a while.

I've also got another rebuild kit on the way and will rebuild both of the old calipers ASAP... just in case...

Transferred approximately 1/2 of all the insects in Norfolk onto my windscreen during a spirited drive in the RS6, including one which may (or may not) have been a flying cow, judging by the palm sized splat left behind and the loud "thwack" it made on impact. Also saw quite a few recently killed Muntjac deer (medium dog sized buggers) littering the sides of the road with about a dozen of them over 30-ish miles, which seems a little high over this time last year but I don't really know Norfolk well enough to say if that deer body-count is high or not (maybe last year was very low?).

Over the weekend, so a little late posting, but:

Replaced a cracked headlight - Interestingly the replacement has a 2021 manufacturing date (so someone obviously paid for a brand new one from Mini)

Cleaned up the new to me "spare" pepperpot that I ordered. Unfortunately as soon as I pressure washed the face, some of the paint started peeling, so will have to have a go at spraying it at some point

And today a new battery charger arrived, as after replacing the headlight I had a low battery warning appear on the dash when the engine wasn't running. Checked the battery voltage after letting it sit for a while and at around 12.1, so should still ok (and starts absolutely fine), but probably worth giving it a full charge, as I do a lot of short journeys.

About average number i would say but I see a lot since I live in the countryside but not far from the A47 and they love to cross that road at night. once came round the bend on the acle stright going towards norwich and one came bounding across the carriageway from the fields.

I washed my car last night, only to have a nice fresh streak of bird **** down the side of it this morning.

Always the case huh?

I was toying with getting someone to sort the paintwork (chips, scratches, **** acid damage) then get it protected. But after this latest clean, I really may as well go for a full respray, it's awful lol. The previous owner really didn't give a toss.

Mine is getting constantly bombarded at the minute. Frigging pigeons and doves!
