Also this highlighted that even though the lenses look clear, they are not and are littered with micro craters from stones and dust from over the years. I last replaced the lenses in 2016:

Got some new wheels for my Taycan. I wasn't keen on the old wheels, and liked the 21 inch Taycan GTS wheels so I gradually bought a set one by one and got them redone in Porsche aurum gold.

For reference, these are the old wheels:

Approved.

Had a bit of a nightmare trying to wash the Qashqai today - been getting this horrible dust film building up on the cars for 2-3 weeks now, hardly worth cleaning them it comes back so quickly. Pressure washing, Snow Foam, Armour All, resorted to hand washing with a sponge whatever I did as soon as it dried out a smeared around film of dust appeared. Only thing which would touch it was Showroom Shine but I was nearly out of that so had to use it sparingly so far from a ideal result. For want of a better way to put it was like anything water based wasn't "debonding" it from the surface even going over it 3 times with the pressure washer.
Pollen is the dust first lots of tree pollen now lots of grass pollen!!

The pollen has been terrible here, but I think it is more than just that - dunno whether there is "Saharan" sand carrying in the atmosphere and/or stuff from some of the wildfires - it is basically turning into something like cement when you mix it with water.

Mk 9 civic I bought back in October last year had horrid aftermarket wind deflectors that I keep meaning to remove then forgetting (only do 25 miles a week in it). Did it on a whim on Saturday, front window ones came off fine, however the previous owner had glued them to the rubber on the window sills. Mostly managed to get them off without too much damage and the car looks infinitely better wihout them attached. (it's still a heap of ****) :D

Cleaned the air filter and chamber on the JCW. Not replaced it since it's 2020 service as the performance and mpg seemed unaffected. It's been about 24k. Took the extra filter later off and it's good for another year me thinks.

Below is the pic of the extra filter layer...

do you need to get headlight realigned if you dismantle them to clean lenses out ?
I'd like to do mine (and perhaps try some compound with DAP) but, had that concern, plus that sealing rubbers (never been out) could be dilapidated

Nope the alignment dial is not touched so the angle of alignment should not change. You can align the beam pattern on your driveway anyway, it's super easy really if you do accidnetally twist the knob on the back of the headlamp housing. You should not be touching the reflector/projector either! Just working around those core components. Also never touch the inside of the headlamp lens cover as they are specially coated. Even touching them with a clean cloth will create micro-marring patterns that can never be fixed. I made this mistake by accident when I first replaced the lenses as saw a bit of dust and instead of blowing it out, used a cloth  Had to order a new lens at £45 :/

I'd already replaced the sealing gasket back in 2016 so knew it was still good, the original one was indeed brittle but that was over 10 years old back then so was to be expected. It's a chance to refresh those seals though and they're not expensive

Haven't updated progress on the MR2 for some time. I'm currently working on getting the brakes sorted. After 8 years off the road, seized calipers weren't too surprising. So I've got one side done so far, shot blasted, etch primer, painted and a rebuild kit with all new seals etc. Caliper pistons I chucked in the lathe and polished them up, they came up really nicely. Discs have been skimmed on the lathe to remove surface rust and some pitting from where the pads had sat in one position for a very long time.

I think I broke it…

Parked in the sun all day and on the way back from work, initiated an overtake and the car flagged up that it’s overheating and to slow down and/or change up.

Since this occurred, there’s a slight lack of power and judder on acceleration, even when just reversing.

Any ideas?
