What have you done to your car today?

Not showing the Coolwalk interface there though! I thought it rolled out to everyone now!
I'm pretty sure that is Coolwalk. I can tell from some of the pixels (round edges of the apps) and from seeing quite a few Coolwalks in my time.

Hmm it was the navbar music buttons that made me think otherwise! Usually in full screen mode it's on the side with no music controls but I guess screen dpi dictates the buttons and bar location!

There's an option somewhere where you can change it I think. Mine does the same....it starts on split screen mode with Spotify/Google maps. If I press on Maps to open that full screen, I get music controls at the bottom.

EDIT: found it...."Show quick controls for apps"

Oh I've got that already enabled, it's a dpi thing as on my unit if I change the dpi then the layout and bar location changes too through the AA translation app on the unit. I used to have it then changed something on the unit's app so will have to check back on that as prefer the bottom bar instead of the side

I did read that android Auto is reactive based on screen dpi and aspect ratio so this makes sense now.

Yup. I use Carsifi to allow my head unit to connect to AA wirelessly, and it allows you to force certain DPI settings. I was able to bump it up and get split screen before Coolkwalk deployed to my phone. Now I have Coolwalk, it's back at default, but if I bump it up now, it moves the taskbar to the side, rather than the bottom.

The powershift on Focus was jerking when reversing after startup - did it a few times so booked it in to Ford dealer to be looked at and as sods law says the problem vanished - so changed oil level check into a full oil and filter change - It's on the three year mark so needed doing.
While it was there got fuel filter changed as well.
My wallet is that light now I am floating - £530.

My next job is oil change so looked in garage and only got 2.5ltrs of oil so checked online for Ford oil and it came up £57 for 5 ltrs - Will go to Furrows in Shrewsbury as last lot was £18 - so expecting it to cost more but not 50 quid - I hope.

Sorted it, as can be seen below, also had a firmware update for the Android Auto dongle, not sure what the changes are but updates are always good.

Also new shift boot, I fancied a single red stitching down the middle that went all the way as opposed to stopping before the top, also because the leather was starting to get shinier than I'd like from the UV exposure over time, so replaced with a new one :p Thick Italian leather, smells amazing, but the smell only lasts a few months sadly. New one is a more snug fit around the bottom of the knob too. Not bad at all for £15.

Gave the car a very lazy but safe quick wash, it was already 80% clean to begin with.

Timed it perfectly with the forecasted heavy rain meaning no need to dry it off for fear of water spots.

2 new tyres for the MOT and replaced the front grill that got broke last week when a hare jumped out on a corner on a country lane.

Realised a while back I haven't changed the oil since pandemic started - Only done 12k though - So got the kit and spent the morning changing oil and filter - I hate loath and detest those engine trays underneath - A right pig to do it on your own.
Sounds a bit quieter I think.
£79 for 10 ltrs oil and filter and washer. 2010 Focus --Is the oil worth more than the car now.

Yeah I always hated removing the undertrays on cars that didn't have them. My car has a flap in the undertray so you just move a plastic locking tab out of the way and the flap folds down to give you access to the sump plug, makes things much easier.

I actually cut a hole out of the undertray on the wife's old S-Max to give direct access to the sump plug so I didn't have to take it off in future and I cobbled together my own plastic cover for the newly created hole. Made things much easier while still keeping the undertray somewhat intact.

When I last changed the oil I did look at cutting a hole but there is a stiffening ridge right where the hole would be so never did it.

Over the last week I've been battling my intermittent codes with VCDS and a multimeter on my '08 A4 B8.

Replaced all four door lock actuators
Replaced the fuel cap actuator
Replaced a headlight ballast
Fixed the blower motor short I caused after using too much freshening spray. (Contact cleaner is amazing)
Whilst the glovebox was out for the blower I fixed the broken pneumatic piston that had snapped off. Superglue + plastic filler to reinforce the joints. Relubed the piston with silicone grease.

Multiple speakers were showing as open circuit. Tested speakers for continuity from the amp connector and got nothing. All of the speakers have melted the plastic blocks, assuming from someone messing about. Beyond these blocks I get a reading, so I'm going to bridge the gap with tinsel wire and hopefully get all of them working again. The drivers door speaker still works, but has signs of the melting, so I'll do that one pre-emptively.

I've also got an ABS/parking brake warning to pin down, but I'll wait until it's on a ramp.
A P2015 which I've got my fingers crossed is just a vacuum leak, rather than having to replace the intake manifold.
Plus some gaskets to replace...

Then I think I'll treat myself to a valet rather than doing it myself

I always take my boot off and give it the once over with a magic sponge and soapy water. Does the trick of getting it looking Matt again.
