What have you done to your car today?

The Works is back in one piece again!

Still getting boost fluctuation issues though... I've eliminated vac lines, boost gauge leak, blow off valve, and boost solenoid as possible causes...

That leaves the boost controller, the settings in the boost controller, and the wastegate actuator. Or it could still be the boost solenoid and my cleaning of it didn't work.

Anyway, I've decided that I'm going to remove the wholly over the top Gizzmo MS-IBC, which is an all singing all dancing competition electronic boost controller, and fit a simple bleed valve... :p

If that doesn't work, it must be the actuator, and you can't get them. So I guess I'll just have to fit a bigger turbo.

Not sure, probably about that. Popped up on the last 5 minutes of my last commute home before my week off, not terrible timing at least. At least I don’t need the car until it’s booked in for a service on Wednesday.
Worth a read.

the other knuckle with the new bearing is on, gearbox oil is filled, cooling system is bled, no leaks so far. New ignition leads as well.

Now just need to do the engine oil, considering running some LiquiMoly flush in the old oil for a few minutes before draining, put the front back on, put it on the ground and tighten and peen the axle nut, and she should be good to go, knock on wood.
Needs more multicoloured hoses in the engine bay. Rising sun bonnet too. Come on man, stop half-arsing it!

Picked up a brand new second hand car on the weekend, came home, then on Saturday got a quote for a manufacturers extended warranty, 12 months - £580..

Thought that was more than previous speculative quotes I'd recently had, so phoned them and asked if they could check for previous quotes within their 30 day window, the CS rep sounded 'vague' and just said all they could see was the £580 quotes.. so I left it.

Came in work this morning, quickly got a new quote, exact same details and it's £430.. which is exactly what I remember..

So sneaky gits know people pick up cars on weekends and might want to take out extended warranties, so bump up the price considerably...

And people wonder why car dealers/manufacturers get such a bad rep!

Worth a read.

Different warning I think. I just have the yellow oil at minimum warning. The red pressure warning would indeed be more serious. Manual says I can drive, but fill up asap. Only about a mile to the service garage :)

I did a PCV (twice!) on my 850 T-5. Assuming you've also a T5 not much changed despite the vast gap in years. What do you need to know?

Basically how much of a ball ache it's going to be.

It's a V60 T6.

I can easily replace the oil catch and diaphragm as one unit. But likely when I get deep and dirty with this it'll be the hoses clogged.

I'll whip it off at the weekend and take a quick look.

I'd be surprised, given age, if the hoses were bad. On the old 850s it used to be recommended to upgrade the hoses to 3/8" (a 66% increase!), but that was on cars with significant wear. Typically the catch used to just be the worst part.

Prepare for big ball ache to be honest, some of the bolts area in ridiculous places. At least the manifold gasket is now single piece, didn't used to be

Got the sheets etc for this auto Sti saloon. Im looking at either the manual s-GT which replaced the wrx in Japan, or the auto WRX STi. Both are significantly cheaper than the manual Sti. I dont want to spend a whole lot.

Anyway, bid in for this one below, lets see how it goes. One owner, full history etc

Flappy paddles?

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with :) are the cars usually as described/well looked after? I always like to test drive, never mind importing effectively blnd!

Yeah, flappies

Ive always had good results, most of the time they are in better condition than expected. I have to admit, I enjoy the roulette part, hah.

Ive got a spreadsheet of maybe 25 options, but the top 5 this time are:

VW Polo Cup
Impreza STi A-Line
Impreza s-GT manual
Toyota Blade Master G
Volvo S80 V8 (cheap cheap in Japan)
