What have you done to your car today?

Agent in Japan gives auction access and bids for you, the rest you do yourself, it's not hard though. Paperwork is a breeze now but can be daunting for someone doing it fresh. Shipping agent this side takes care of most things this side before it's released for pickup. It's going to Newcastle so transport costs are a few hundred better than Southampton.

Essentially agent in Japan gets it on the boat, shipping agent here gets it off.

I know the 2.0 twin scroll is the better engine but it has equal length headers losing that great burble. The 2.5 only came in auto, about half the price but comes with unequal. There was lots of pros and cons either way, I was tempted by a manual twin scroll, but keeping the price down just keeps the risk low for me too.

I don't mind the 5eat box, tuned by Prodrive in A line, I'll be interested to compare it to the Legacy GT I sold a few months back, it had the same box.

I took the DS in to get it dechromed yesterday. It was a bit of a spur of the moment decision as I'd seen another one on Auto Trader that had been done and thought it looked good. I did consider doing it myself, but thought it was probably worth paying someone to do a better job than I could do and also save me a lot of hassle. Not to everyone's tastes, but I'm quite pleased with the results.

As mentioned I think on these forums recently, you do have to be a bit careful and look up the reputation of some of the people/companies involved especially if using an importer - there are some complete ***** in the business.

Just had a look and can't see it but I did notice they put it on their FB stories/reel thing yesterday.
Yeah I think it was on his story. I've know the guy for about 15 years, although I haven't popped in to see him for about a year or so now, must remember to call in. Either way absolute top bloke, their work is top notch

Quite like these, I do agree it looks better without the chrome bits.

Probably going back to have a tracker fitted too at some point.

Put a double din in my civic. Had it for about 9 months, but decided today was the day to fit it. I wish I hadn't bothered. Two and a half hours later and it's finally in. Broken wires, broken clips and I even managed to crack the speedo surround display. Why couldn't it just go in nicely, and the old system come out easily?

TBH it sounds like you were too heavy handed with it and lost your rag?
Or didn't research how to do it properly, and didn't use trim removal tools/take your time whilst being gentle with thin brittle plastics?

Bought a new-to-me turbo because mine is now leaking into the exhaust, into the intake, out of the bottom onto the exhaust, and out of the wastegate spindle. :p
Quite impressive really.
Full boost or GTFO!

My mate had many Kei Cars, was ridiculous how fast they were considering. He had a Glanza and Starlet before, and migrated/made most parts fit...
The funniest was we have a mate with a Daihatsu Charade 3cyl Turbo Hatch, that runs a hybrid turbo, methanol injection etc etc, literally will rape an FQ Evo etc etc, and it's 996CC hahahaha.

Love that you've got this, if you ever need any E30 bits, let me know. Me and my mates break Beamers.

It is another standard turbo I've bought, the Hitachi version of the IHI one I've just blown up, from a low KM car.

Haha thats awesome!

This is my first proper kei, I did have a Nippa before, but thats technically Malaysian despite being 99.9% an L200 Mira.

16 year old plastic/clips, with a bad design for the speedo imo. It could have done with some reinforcement on the end, but I understand why they went the way they did. It's not very often (if at all it needs to be removed). I followed the correct procedure as per the official maintenance/repair documents (pull from the centre). When the clips are at the end on a thin piece of plastic, it's just one of them things I guess.

Personally never had an issue even with 30+ year old stuff, the only thing I'd break is a one time use clip for obvious reaons, the secret is knowing the right amount of force/pressure to apply, but once you've done it once, you usually have it dialed for next time, so it's just bad luck mate.

That and the fact new cars aren't made like anything pre 2000's, and literally aren't made to last/be fiddled with unfortunately.
