What have you done to your car today?

Fitted my new brake hoses with OEM Toyota ones (Braided line burst on the way home from a track day) and replaced a front wheel bearing. Flew through MOT without a single advisory even though the car has been sat in the garage for almost 3 months. Not bad for a 18 year old :).

looks like turbo seals?

No turbos on it.

Yeah this is something I've wondered in the past too thinking it was possibly a piston ring or valve seal, blue smoke usually indicates burning oil but the car doesn't seem to drink oil any more than other ST's and it doesn't run rough, I just put it down to the car not having any cats and the air being more static on the RR as it isn't really visible when the car is moving.

They can be a little bit smokey/sooty anyway from what I've seen...my car used to soot up the exhaust something rotten within a short amount of time, that was with the Mountune MR200 kit, nothing wrong with it and it made good power (201 to 192bhp depending on when it was dyno'd).

Your torque figure is mega if its a true reading Shaun, my MR200 car made 157lb/ft peak, I have seen Dreamsciences rollers called optimistic before but even allowing for that it seems very healthy :)

I was shocked at the torque to begin with and thought maybe it was the rollers but nearly 40 different cars ran that day and all the figures were pretty much bang on, all rollers are going to be different of course but I had it on DS rollers before the Cams/map and made 173bhp and 162ftlb, not entirely unbelievable I suppose considering the work it's had done.

No idea I just liked the shark cut out :D

But apparently from a review site:

"The main new technology in the Rainsport 3 is "Shark Skin" technology. This features as very small grooves in the water channels to reduce the flow turbulence and evacuate more water at similar speeds. At 80 kph, at tyre hitting 8mm of standing water needs to displace 30 litres of water a second, and with on average 11 wet days per MONTH in London between April and October (summer tyre season) the importance of good aquaplaning properties become apparent. "

Got off my backside and fitted the fancy braided clutch hose to the E36.

Internet myth has it that the original hose and set up has a restriction in there and balloons when you put your foot on the clutch.

New hose in, bit of a pain to do, messy too. Had to get the slave off to thread the new hose in.

Afterwards the clutch was so light that i thought i hadnt bled all the air out. Massive improvement in every way IMO

Ive been buying parts from a small outfit called Elite Developments. I couldnt find the CDV in mine, they confirmed its in the hose or something (bought it months ago) but it had completely changed how the clutch pedal feels, for the better. Gonna be way happier giving it stick now.

Oh, forgot that i had an encounter with a dead fox on Saturday night. Getting under the car today reminded me very clearly :(

Told you it was worth doing, no CDV in an M3 though is there? I think that's what made 95% of the difference with mine.

how close to the floor is your E36 biting point?

i think ive still got air in mine. gonna bleed it with the bum in the air so there are no excuses

Is somebody selling those? Is all the money going to charity?

Yeah it's from here, £1.49 and £1 of it goes to Paul's charity. It'd be nicer if the full amount was to charity but after printing/design etc it's a fair amount to have donated and show respects at the same time :)

I suppose it's more of a personal thing, I'm happy with the amount donated although the listing says £1 of each sale but there are bigger prints at nearly £5 so that's a bit cheeky IMO, hopefully just poor choice of wording and more is donated if you buy a larger one.

What's REALLY bad is the people making money off it on eBay who are charging more and donating nothing :(
