What have you done to your car today?

New boots all-round for both the Mondeo and the MX-5 yesterday. Both cars also went on a Hunter machine; MX-5 was fine but the Mondeo needed adjustments front and back.

Mondeo was fitted with Continental ContiSport 5s and the MX-5 had Michelin PilotSport 3s. £797 for both car's tyres plus £63 for the full geo on the Mondeo. An expensive Saturday but both cars should be sorted for the winter now.

I have got that new car bug again i get every Christmas.

I keep looking at Evo 5-6's then over at STI's and been looking at 350z's today. I hate it when this bug comes along as i have never overcome it and always ended up giving in to it.

The 350z i can insure for pittance, but as my mrs keeps reminding me it is not practical for when it comes to family stuff.

Evo and STI's are going back up to the stupid insurance prices.

Even been looking at M3's.

I love the ST220 i have, best car i have owned. But it just doesn't tick the special box for me.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Space is the biggest issue with the 350z if you need to lug people or stuff really. Usually 2 seaters with a fixed roof have a decent amount of storage space but the boot in the Nissan is a bit of a joke due to the turrets and strut brace. Even the z4 coupe has a more usable boot really.

Took it back to Dreamscience for a power run as it hadn't been done since having the cams fitted. Managed to get 192bhp and 174ftlb so proper happy :D

Grabbed a video too...

Picked up a bimmer innit.

Jobs to get it going for my usage which I have done today:
1) Throw OEM jack and wheel brace in the bin
2) Move airpump, impact wrench, decent jack, and decent wheel brace over to it so that I can do a pitstop style wheel change if I get a flat tyre
3) Remove hilariously large GB sticker from the back with hairdryer and Tcut
4) Remove dog cage

I will be getting my first car in the next couple of months and I just wondered are there any limitations on fitting new exhausts ? Is there a decibel limit ? I don't want it to be loud just to sound nice :)

K&N 57i kit
Milltek 4-1 manifold, decat, non-res centre + catback
Newman 200 cams
Dreamscience Race+ Map
And overall good maintenance with good oil, Magnecors leads/Iridium plugs etc...

Peak BHP was at 6400RPM and torque at 5250, I'll grab a picture of the graph because the power line is almost straight :D

I'm in two minds about changing the inlet to break 200 now, it'd be nice and definitely faster but I have a horrible feeling I'll miss all the torque I'll lose. I want to go SC next year however so might look into SC'ing on stock inlet and see how it performs :)

If you are supercharging it I'd forget changing the inlet manifold for now, and either fit an lsd or put money towards an MTX75 gearbox conversion, otherwise you will likely grenade the gearbox at some point if you drive it hard.

I've been thinking about getting an ST220 again.

200SX, you know you want one :p

(Yesterday) I did a Xenon conversion on my Mondeo TDCi, I did it properly though using OEM headlights and butchered a pair of scrap halogen lamps for the plugs as the connectors are different.

The wiring gave me a headache at first trying to get the levelling motors to work but I got there in the end. I've got the ballasts powered directly from the battery & used the original headlight feed to trigger a relay that I mounted inside the headlight casing. the bulbs fitted seem to be OEM 4300K bulbs but now my sidelights look really yellow at the side of them. :(

I was sort of trialling them but I've spent a couple of hours driving tonight & not been flashed once so they seem to be for keeps.

Tried to buy it a new plate from a DVLA auction. Put my max bid as £800 and didn't get any confirmation after the bidding, so phoned up to be told it went for £2800. Was worth a shot I suppose lol.
