What have you done to your car today?

Conti SC5. Accept no substitutes.

Same sort of power (240bhp), probably similar power delivery too :)

I always had the SC2 on my pug and it was great, but the wear rate was terrible. Don't know if this was the car (probably) but it's just given me a mental block to going back to conti. Assume you're using them - how do you find the wear?

Your car has Eco in the name, mine has RS - so mine must be faster :p

The sport contact 5's on the fn2 have actually worn fantastically well (apart from 1 but that particular corner was miles out of alignment). My front 2 have done circa 15k and still have 4mm+

I had much quicker wear with the 3, but that was on a diseasel civic

They lasted ages on my ST220. Almost 20k for the fronts. They're not wearing quite as slowly on my current Mondeo but it is a fair bit heavier.

Mine has "boost" and "sport" in the name. So I win. Naturally.

Got two Eagle F1 A2's today for the rears. Fitted for £127.50 each which isn't too bad. That's in 255 35 18 size. Could have got them a little cheaper online but I'm impatient! :)

That's pretty good wearing then! As I say, I'm sure it was the car - people I know wih similar peugeots (3008 and 5008) have reported similar things.... I just need to get over the mental block. I'll see how these bridgestones work out - if they're less grippy than the michelins then they'll be relegated back to rear wheel duty and I'll give something else a pop later in the year.

I was sure you were going to reference the "power" in the name :p

Blimey they wore quickly! Actually it may have been much longer ago than I remember that the rears were fitted.... How's the car getting on? Had any luck with the vibration?

I'm enjoying having decent load space for a change.

I've done a fair few miles so not too bad! There were not completely gone but started to get fairly noisy.

Nope! Its still there :( Really struggling to find a decent garage who can diagnose what it is! Any recommendations?

What mileage is the car on now, must be nearing 100k surely?

Ah that's a bugger :( I always used either a local garage for the oily jobs and they were ok but I wouldn't be in a hurry to recommend them, or DIY'd it. There's a thread on PH for BMW and Mini specialists that have been recommended, and of that lot I've heard ok things about "Crago's" in Dartford and "BMSport" in Bexleyheath, but have never had to use either myself. Have you had an alignment done? Checked out the wheel bearings?

Spotted lovely microblisters (not to mention the fact it seems to be covered in swirls in the sun) in my freshly resprayed car.

After a few days of paint settling it pretty much looks like it did when I took it in covered in microblisters! lol.

Been to kick off and he admitted not going back to bare metal as discussed and low and behold he's going to have to do it all again! Isn't he lucky.

As for me? sums up my mood. In two minds wether to ask for half the money back and just sell it. But I love how it drives and goes.

This is the thing with resprays, I can't see how they are ever economical. To do it properly costs thousands, to do it less than properly is not worth the effort because this sort of stuff just happens.

I had confidence it'd be OK but I hate having to admit it, the OcUK paint police were bang on right in this instance :)

I am giving him one more chance and if he can't do it right this time then I am going to rubbish him and cost him the £1200 he's cost me, not to mention 3 weeks without my car initially and having to lend cars, taxis etc also.

Why do micro blisters happen, is it due to not having a filter in the air line and moisture coming through the paint gun or contaminants on the surface before painting?

Usually the latter. Cleaning chemicals can be a nightmare to remove (like silicone sprays etc).

Dave's problem is that they were already there, hence why he specified a 'bare metal' respray. Obviously a quick rub back was not the answer!

Bad news regarding the respray. Thankfully, I have a top notch body shop near me and will do a cash in hand deal to save me some money.

Gave it a wash, once over of the scratches with polish/t-cut, foam wash, a wax, and went for a drive to help it dry off, then "polished" the inside of the windows. :)

Mainly because I had nothing better to do. At least it is shiny now. :D

Can't do much for the bubbling/lacquer peel/touch ups/stone chips/scrapes/dents/curbing/corrosion/rust though. :p

Sprayed WD40 on the drivers lower arms for what I thought was a rubber squeak. Turns out the Drivers side-Front Axel-Rear Arm-Ball Joint is shot, so it needs changing. Squeak's gone though after the spray!
