What have you done to your car today?

Bet that's going to be uber fun to drive once you're done. Great colour too, copper is very trendy :p

Got to change the sidelights today but going to have a full lights off and clean the headlight unit

Just been out and started the car.

Had a panic phone call from wife - "Car won't start" quoting things that came up on dashboard - Fortunately she was only in village so power walked in and the two women were standing by car - Wife looking agitated - jumped in -press button (keyless start) waited till lights went out - foot on brake and press button - Off it went - sweet as nut - she jumped in and was off because they were late - Women over 60 shouldn't be allowed to drive - she should be put in a wheelchair and put in a home.

Not sure what she was doing but I think she got in and pressed button - the woman she picked up must have said something - wife totally confused by now pressed button again turning off ignition - she put foot on brake and pressed button - I haven't done that but will assume the car said you never gave me time to check all diagnostics.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!

It's a Focus TDCi Powershift.

Women.

Chucked some oil in the 330. Reads spot on when cold but reads low when warm so chucked about 500ml in following the BMW method of checking oil.

Nipped into Halfrauds, £20 for a 1l bottle of Castrol Edge 0w40, £12 in Sainsburys.

Took my ATR in to get undersealed as most of these get scrapped because of rust. Everything seems fine when I bought it so the plan is to stop any rust from developing further.

Found a local body shop that do undersealing but it seems like they will only spray the waxoyl on without treating the rust. I think the low price that they are charging reflects that fact. Which means I spent a lot of my weekend crawling under the car getting it cleaned, degreased and treated any rust I can find with Hydrate 80.

Used a lot of these:

A bit of rust on the rear jacking point:

Usual manky suspension components:

Some minor chassis rust (all surface after poking around with a file):

Except this bit of subframe which I manage to poke couple of holes with my file:

I have treated that for now and might have to get it welded at some point.

No after shots as I was too tired when I finished. I must say the hydrate 80 simply turn anything rusty into a black substance. I am quite impressed I must say. Hopefully with the Waxoyl going on top, the car should stop rusting for a while.

Shame you didn't get any after pics - I would have liked to see that.

Am I correct in thinking that the Hydrate 80 differs from the De-Ox Gel as it converts rust whereas the De-Ox removes it?

Need to do this on the MX5 and Evo before the winter. Both aren't exactly bad but could do with the attention.

Yesterday I changed the oil and filter, today I have been fitting a DVB-T box. Its working fine now but needs tidying up and putting the trim pieces back but its too damn hot in the cabin so have stopped for now.

New MOT and re-gassed the Air-Con.
The Air-Con was a god send on the way home :D

I'm also working in Milton Keynes for the rest of the week so the Air-Con re-gas will have paid for itself by the end of the week!

More likely to be a Ford or a Volvo. I dont remember GM owning Aston at any period.

I know, I'm just saying they look like they came out of a Vectra, since they don't look like the ones that Mondeos have :p Although they look quite Volvo-esque now that you mention it.

A Friend has a 1977 Vantage, the indicator stalks are from a Vauxhall Chevette!!!

Think they've raided the parts bin from most crap cars over the years, doesn't detract from the thing though, it's a remarkable beastie!
