What have you done to your car today?

Not sure on your setup but mine can be adjusted behind the headlight with an allen key.

I'd have though if the load sensor was faulty both lights would be either low or high.

There will be a twist knob (or a knob to poke a cross head driver into) on the back of the headlight to adjust the beam height. Bit of a bummer they failed it though, such a simple thing for them to adjust. My local MOT place adjusts the beam as needed if it's out of legal spec and carries on with the MOT.
Ironically enough, I was just reading last night that the most common MOT failure in Belgium is badly adjusted headlights :p

I don't have a machine (obviously) so I'll have to take it to my indy to fix. Won't be more than a tenner hopefully!

The MOT stations are purely testing stations. No work is carried out there at all. However, when you come back for a retest, they only check the thing that failed.

That makes sense. Thanks

It just saves lots of faff and finding time to go back for a re-test though for what is essentially twisting a knob a couple times left or right until the beam is aligned to their alignment wall, which is why I like places like that, they have your back :p

Just been to have a look at the unit - had I known it was so simple I would've tried to fix it there and then :p

I agree, friendly stations are great. Unfortunately, stations here aren't garages. They're testing stations on an industrial scale.

Last year my car failed on headlight alignment, the tester tried to adjust it but the adjuster inside the headlight was knackered, so I took the car home ordered a new adjuster (only £5 but a PITA JOB!) fitted it and didn't even try to adjust it, took it back for free retest and he adjusted it for me free of charge. I thought for things like headlight adjustment that would normally be done for free instead of wasting time booking it in for a retest?

I have noticed that the sensor for the self levelling is broken though, I am hoping they miss that when its in for MOT on the 25th.

I put a large Starbucks hot chocolate on my car roof before while I got something out of the back, turned around to it all pouring down the door and windscreen, melted marshmallows and cream too.

At least if that happens you can only be angry with yourself :) - that could be a pain to wash off depending on where it all goes!

Booked my SLK in for her first service today now that I know the dates that I will move house.

Found a door ding and managed to kerb a wheel (outside the house of all places). Not happy. :(

I'm hoping I can get something to touch it up...its titanium grey not sure if you can even get a touch up pen in that colour.

Ended up in the window trim, in the door sills and the engine bay. It wasn't easy to get out of the chrome trim.
