What have you done to your car today?

Painted my spare rocker cover today as my one is a bit tatty looking.

Started off like this:

End result - not the best pics as I've not long been out and lighting is poor!

I'm very pleased though, considering I did a fairly half arsed job of rubbing it down, and it was done with halfords rattle cans. Better than what's on there anyhow!

Fixed and bled my deleted brake fluid last night - thankfully the master cylinder wasn't actually dry, just the initial reservoir.

Also realised how disgusting the inside of the car is, proper clean due at the weekend

Booked in for a visit to E T A Motorsport for having a 2nd pair of eyes inspect my subframe for cracks. Local BMW dealer said there are no cracks and all is well, but forum members say they've been told the same in the past only for an indy to spot small cracks!

If E T A find no cracks then awesome.

If they find cracks then I'll take the findings back to BMW and ask wtf and for them to delete the cracks stat.

Got my rocker cover out in the sun, it looks good! Pleased with the colour choice.

Then set to and got it fitted, makes a big difference. I think I need to paint the intake pipes to match now though.

Pretty much all that's left is a detailing session tomorrow, then Friday I am off to a car show (VBOA Billing) for the weekend.

I'm not even getting involved in that conversation it's outrageous lol.

It's BMW sparking graphite I think.. Bloody lovely colour

excellent choice, my old 1 series used to be that colour, infact I chose the same colour for my wheels when I attempted a refurb on the supra. I didnt prep it properly and ended up coming off when I jet washed the car

Fitted new rear brake discs, pads and wear sensor on Monday. Then drove almost 700 miles to Durham and back with a few hours of work in between, home at 1:30am, straight to bed, feeling knackered even now.

I once did a ridiculous trip of 1080 miles from Basingstoke to Glasgow to Edinburgh then back to Basingstoke all in the same day before - with a few hours of visiting a couple of customer sites in between. Well, I got home at some crazy hour so technically the next day but I really don't think I can be bothered to do that kind of crazy anymore. I'm getting old :D

On the plus side, brakes are all good now. As my wear sensor had tripped the dash was throwing up the inspection indicator light every time I started it up/turned it off as well as gave the perma red light warning for brakes all the time. Was doing my head in.

Hit the back of someone else! That's what I did today!

Not ideal - got enough stuff going on just now in my life and now need to deal with this. Insurance job for sure, my bonnet is push up and scrapped/dented, along with various other damage to the grill etc.

His was mainly damage to the rear bumper etc - Insurance phoned and awaiting arrangements to pick up my car and get it repaired etc.

No doubt he will be in with a whiplash claim as well.....despite the fact it was around 10/15mph hit and we both got out and were perfectly civil about it and there was no sign of personal injury or anything!

Failed in resisting the urge to try my Reverant built MS2

It started but struggled to stay running, after about 6 cells in the fuel map being richened up it sat and idled upto 80c quite happily, didn't attempt to drive it as I need to wire in the IAT and change the wiring on my wideband before attempting any real use

Car failed MOT due to left headlight shining too high.
It's Adaptive Xenons though. Can they be manually adjusted or is the ballast knackered?
Are there two ballasts, or one for both?

I haven't had a chance to check them in the dark against a wall to see if they move up and down properly - hadn't driven it at night for a few weeks before I took it to the MOT this morning.

Ballast isnt anything to do with alignment despite the name :)

Which car is it? There's normally a rod involved in the automatic leveling, I know on some cars they are prone to breaking

There will be a twist knob (or a knob to poke a cross head driver into) on the back of the headlight to adjust the beam height. Bit of a bummer they failed it though, such a simple thing for them to adjust. My local MOT place adjusts the beam as needed if it's out of legal spec and carries on with the MOT.
