What have you done to your car today?

Changed rear pads...old ones were a bit past their best :o

Had the tyres changed. I had it on the ramp for alignment check as the wheel had not been straight since fitting the RE002's on the back. The setting was fine so dropped it without touching a thing. Drove off on the new Yokos and the wheel was dead straight again and the rear axle no longer feels like it's possessed.

Then I parked it, and someone reversed a trailer into the rear quarter.

Back from a good/bad/ugly day at MRC -

Good - Got the Propshaft replaced under warranty, had a gearbox service, replaced the rear pads with Ferodo DS2500's and got some lovely H&R anti-roll bars fitted.

Bad - My plans for 800+hp took a bit of a twist when I found out that the 30p oil-pump seal is leaking, although not that badly. The warranty assessor had a look while he checked out the propshaft but we're not sure if the warranty company will pay for an engine drop to fix it (£3k+), and the cost of doing it myself stops my Race-Cat downpipes & exhaust plan.

However, if they do pay for the engine drop then there's the possibility of replacement turbos and 850hp :D

Ugly - the 4hr trip home doing less than 20mph from the M40 to the M20. At one point even the stereo in the RS couldn't resist taking the mick!

Lamest of all the mods I could start with, but about the only thing I can do currently with my entire shed in boxes ready to move house ... some wind deflectors :) Not usually a massive fan of them on any old hatchback, but I think they generally look pretty good on very square cars!

Oh and I've replaced the front wipers with Bosch aerotwins as coming back from a friends the other night in slight drizzle I found the current wipers less useful than a wet paper towel on the windscreen.

Someone else did this to my car when I left it in the hotel carpark last night.

Doesn't look deliberate - I reckon they just happened to scrape their bags against it or something. Still enough to spoil what would otherwise have been a very nice morning though

Completed a few jobs on my E39 530i Sport Touring recently.

Fitted new rear discs and pads, re-adjusted handbrake, replaced front ARB drop links, replaced radiator, replaced and coded ABS module, inspection 2 service.

Completed all of this at: http://ramp-it-up.co.uk
£15 per hour to hire a ramp/lift with a comprehensive set of quality tools including air line and impact gun. Made the above much easier and much more enjoyable than led on my back on a damp drive.

They also dispose of the old oil and parts.

Now to put the car in for a fresh MOT and put it up for sale!

Any idea what you'll ask?
As its in tip top condition with pretty much all common e39 issues resolved (VANOS, DISA, CCV, rocker gasket, viscous fan clutch, rear wiper mechanism, hedgehog, headlight adjusters, PDC sensors), 4 premium tyres with loads of life left, a few choice leather trim parts and just had its inspection 2 and 12 months MOT, I am going to price it right at the top end of the spectrum at £4k.

I'm in no rush for it to go and think it is worth that to the right buyer.

Oh, also had the front end repainted so it's aesthetically very tidy too!

I used my MR2 for a bit of top down motoring until the chap in the white corsa decided to use it as brake assist at some traffic lights. Quite annoyed as I got the car about six weeks ago and it now has a good chance of being written off.
