What have you done to your car today?

Changed front brake discs + pads.
Inner passenger side brake pad was down to bare metal which explains the screeching/grinding, still felt safe although a bit wobbly under heavy breaking.

Managed to shear the brake disc securing bolt on one side so can't remove the disc. Everywhere shut on a Sunday so down to eurocarparts or vauxhall tomorrow.. Will have to drill or tap out the old one.

Took my car to kwikfit and got the aircon regassed - was low and temperature is now cooler. They think one of the fans isn't working, going to quote me tomorrow.

Will check both fans myself tomorrow, but have a feeling they are both working and its more likely the control module.

I noticed on some of the other wheel nuts, they've started to rust along the bottom 1/3rd.
The disc's have been on since the car was new 90k miles ago; probably never been taken off..

Will hit the head with impact driver and shock with hammer, then grind the top if that doesn't work. I saw it's possible to also use a punch and encourage it anti clockwise. Sourcing a replacement screw is likely to be hardest. The top half has no thread on it.

EDIT: wonder if tyre places would sell me the screw, they'll surely have spares for when they replace brakes.

Not today, but over the last week or so on my RS Clio 182. New Goodyear F1 AS2 on the front, new gearstick gaiter, new high level brake light, new RS floor mats and a "Snappy" refurbished steering wheel.

Went for a two hour drive to get of footage of the RS6 in action with the loud pipes fitted but the exhaust is soooo loud that even with the mic sensitivity on it's lowest and the mic on the roof (over 1m away from the tips) it's still distorting the sound at full throttle :(

I'll probably have to get a better mic as this one is a mid-frequency range tie-clip mic (100hz to 10Khz) so it doesn't pick up the bass either and makes everything sound a bit tinny.

Have just checked and the smaller of the two fans doesn't run at all, only the large fan (which runs full speed when idle with a/c on).

Assume it won't be something simple like a separate fuse for the small one?

I fitted a decat to the 172.

when cold it's kinda loud... but when warm is nice and quiet until I put my foot down.
And then it's only loud when between 2.8k and 4k

Had the rear half tinted, something that it was greatly missing. Only took 2 hours, £120, not bad.

Tried again to fit wind deflectors but the clips provided and instructions make no sense.

She's now a year old, 12k miles and 1 accident later she still looks good. Transmission on the other hand doesn't feel like it's happy anymore, back to dealer!

Dropped it into a recommended local VW specialist - so far so impressed. First time I've had a courtesy car from a small indy that was clean and not knackered. Got a call from them about 9:30 saying my clucking is definitely drop links - £198 all in to do both links with genuine parts and a new CV boot to replace a split one. Happy days

Pre-washed, washed, dried, polished and sealed the Porsche this evening.

My first go with proper snow foam... that stuff is hilarious!

Even with the wife's help, it still took over 3 hours... lol

Looks better than new! :D

Too dark to take any worthwhile pics though - so will get the camera out tomorrow instead (don't rain... don't rain... don't rain...)

The other day noticed my turbo wasn't spooling properly until about 4.5k revs.. checked everything out and eventually found the turbine wheel on the exhaust side has a ot of it missing :(

So now ordering bits from the US to fix it. Going to fit a billet compressor wheel at the same time. Then send it away to be balanced.
