What have you done to your car today?

I.... sold the clio 172.

I wasn't expecting them to actually want it today, buy they did.

but she'll shocked tbh, mabey I priced it too low?? Ah well.

onwards and upwards

Removed the remainder of the air conditioning from the MX5, fitted the intercooler and some of the pipework, fitted the wideband sensor and put a new thinner fan onto the radiator. Also worked out what I needed to do to remove the AFM, as it won't fit when the supercharger is on and isn't needed with the new ECU.

Might go out a bit later and fit the injectors

Installed some Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades to my MX-5. So far, a massive improvement over the previous set. And they're very quiet even on a dry windscreen.

Gave my Type-R a quick going over with Sonax Shine to tie it over, and my new RRE its first clean since I took delivery two weeks ago.

Planning on hardwiring a dashcam next.

Quick rant.

So, the owner of Project Bentley also has a 2004 Vectra GSI. These came with HID headlights as standard. Recently, the drivers side one started to fail - it'd work for about a minute, then flicker and eventually go off. There was a huge amount of condensation inside the unit, and the ballast was damaged by it.

The local Vauxhall dealership replaced the light. Five hundred and fifty ******* pounds for the part and labour. They didn't leave Gary the old unit as they had promised. And the kicker? The new unit already has condensation in it.

May the good Lord bless dealerships....'cause no other bugger would....

Ooops!

OK... at least it's covered under warranty so can take it back and have it replaced straight away...

... can't leave much faith in the next replacement unit, however

Not my car, but checking my dads Fabia vRS ready for its MOT because I'm off work this week. He hasn't driven it in a while because he just drives my old 306 most of the time and the battery on the Fabia must have become drained because the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree and the power steering doesn't work - it has done this before, he bought a new battery and it was fine then. To add insult to that I've also noticed a small bulge in one of the front tyres (Winters), so I can see me forking out for two new tyres on his behalf today because the best bit is the MOT is tomorrow :o

Sounds like a fairly common problem with Fabia's (and Octavias):

Might just be a case of turning steering wheel to full lock one way and then back to the other way, to reset the steering angle calibration. Otherwise could be a dealer (or someone with VCDS) to reset the sensor.

Decided to take it for it's first "economical" drive down to Maidstone and back, managed 28MPG, a lot of which was sitting in traffic in Maidstone town centre. It doesn't really seem to be noticeably less economical than my last one, which is rather nice.

Also put my foot down properly for the first time since I got it, got to the limiter very quickly despite the stretch of private runway being quite steeply uphill. :p

I'm still only averaging about 28MPG, nearly all of my driving is on B roads and in town.

28MPG isn't bad considering the fact that I do give it a squirt every now and then, but I would like to break 30!

Computer keeps switching between 28.6 and 28.7 average.

Maidstone? So what's the quote for the exhaust then? :p

The computers are usually off so you may be getting 30, maybe worth working it out yourself? :p

28 is quite impressive.

In the XKR... I only got that when leaving the cruise control on 65... maybe peaking at 29... at least according to the computer... but then I thought they over-read, rather than under-read ;)

In more normal driving, it was averaging 22-25 for me... although I think I mentioned... I somehow managed to average 16.7mpg for my ownership... hehehe

Changed coil pack.

Didn't feel this justified a new thread, but I'm still having a weird issue with my Lupo 1.0.

The check engine light is on/flashing, it runs really rough at idle (and through the rev range) and it seems to have lost a bit of power. My immediate thought was misfire caused by the coil Pack (and forums backed that up) so I replaced the coil pack today but it's still misfiring and is horribly lumpy. I have no choice but to drive it to work tomorrow unfortunately.

It's pretty strange.
