What have you done to your car today?

Changed coil pack.

Didn't feel this justified a new thread, but I'm still having a weird issue with my Lupo 1.0.

The check engine light is on/flashing, it runs really rough at idle (and through the rev range) and it seems to have lost a bit of power. My immediate thought was misfire caused by the coil Pack (and forums backed that up) so I replaced the coil pack today but it's still misfiring and is horribly lumpy. I have no choice but to drive it to work tomorrow unfortunately.

It's pretty strange.

Egr stuck open at a guess

Maidstone? So what's the quote for the exhaust then? :p

Decided not to go ahead with it, the guy reckoned it would make it too loud and I don't want it to drone on the motorway.

28 is quite impressive.

In the XKR... I only got that when leaving the cruise control on 65... maybe peaking at 29... at least according to the computer... but then I thought they over-read, rather than under-read ;)

In more normal driving, it was averaging 22-25 for me... although I think I mentioned... I somehow managed to average 16.7mpg for my ownership... hehehe

I suspect that will be what I end up averaging as well - the quick burst to the limiter managed to knock 6MPG off the average for the Maidstone trip :p

Spark plugs?

Thanks! I have just checked the HT leads by removing one at time from the plug and starting it with a different one removed each time. Supposedly, when you restart, if the engine runs worse, that lead was ok, whereas if there is no change, then that is the faulty lead. They all made it sound like a 3cyl corsa so leads/plugs are fine.

I suppose this also means that the coil pack is fine as removing one of the leads would have meant it ran on 2cyl (assuming it uses a wasted spark system).

This looks promising. It's going in for a (long overdue) cam belt change on Thursday anyway so I'll phone them tomorrow and ask them kindly to look at this too :o

Cheers for the help.

Thought I may as well for $50!

That's what put me off getting a CL600. Similar bill for the coil packs, and it's not a case of if they fail, it's when they fail.

Bought a few things ready to grind a patch of my roof down to bare metal, "pickle" it, and prime it, ready for paint and blending. :)

Also had a lengthy conversation with a good friend about possible modifications... I do plan on changing the wheels, suspension, induction and exhaust, but I have been thinking about internal mods... (cams + valves, retainers and springs) & tuning.

Maybe...

Had some Apex ARC-8 wheels delivered for my track car, 18x9.5" and only 8.55kgs each!

That's a nice 9kg weight saving on the front axle and 9.4kgs on the rear from the OEM 19" I had, hopefully very noticeable on track.

Worth deciding if it's worth the money for the gains or not, tuning N/A has awful bhp/£.

Changed 17" stock alloys to 18" Rota GTRs.
Changed stock panel filter to AEM Cold Air Intake.

I was getting the horrible feeling it is slightly slower now on the journey home.. (Although I did still have 4x wheels in the back and it was a bit wet)

Think it might need a dyno and/or remap now that it has the AEM CAI - did a quick video and could hear a little bit of popping. Though I'm not sure if that's normal or was occurring pre-CAI.
It was (or should be) making at least 330bhp as it has the Prodrive Performance Pack.

Recommendations for a dyno in West Midlands/Warwickshire area? :)

(It's a Subaru WRX STI hatchback btw)

An induction kit is terrible idea without a map, Imprezas are notoriously sensitive to intake chances and its likely that fuelling is way off what if should be now.

Thanks for the advice. It has the PPP kit so is running the PPP remap currently.

I'll look at getting one done relatively soon though - unless it's likely to cause any damage as it is? Starvation/overfuelling etc? (I'm not mechanically minded..) In which case I'll throw the stock airbox back in until it's ready for dyno/mapping.
