What have you done to your car today?

Fitted this amazing dual exit exhaust on my MX5 MK2 :)

Checked my fuel consumption on my drive to and from work, I average 27.5MPG per tank (calculated myself, computer shows 28.5 so not far off!) - but I managed 37MPG average over my 30 mile round trip to work today. (No A roads, just B roads and town) :)

Shows how much I drive it hard on an average tank... :o

I seem to do quite a bit better than you despite another ~50bhp and a turbo

Cleaned, waxed, unblocked my washer jets and general love before a spell of autumn weather. Had a go at cleaning the exhaust tips too but I think it could have come up better.

Washed the GTR and topped it up with Reload and Hydro2.... Shining beautiful and put it BACK on charge.

Genuine question, why do people constantly put newish cars on charge? Remember seeing quite a few people with new M4s getting it home and then immediately putting a charger on it. I really don't get it, it's a brand new car, it's not going to have battery issues in your ownership, and if it does then you have a warranty to rely on. Only gets used at the weekends? So did my 12 year old E46 on it's original battery, and that started first time. It's a modern car, not a child.

I do a very good 30mpg at a steady 65mph on a run but 7mpg in M25 traffic the other week and even less hooning it :D

From a quick Google seems like a flat battery on the GTR causes major issues with both the electronics, but also with actual issues of being able to get into the car, due to the window design.

Yes the standard GTR battery is from a micra!! When doing updates to the Nav which can take about an hour some people have had their standard battery flat by the time its finished. Replaced mine a year ago and the Optima Yellow Top holds its charge very well, but if it goes flat due to the window design (The window has to drop before you can open the door as the glass sits behind the A piller/Roofline) then you are in a spot of bother. Always like to keep it on charge however and it is a fairly small battery, in comparison a 335d battery (e92) was about 2.2x the size. I'd rather not go to Nissan with warranty claims on a battery either, besides its out of warranty now anyway!! FYI, a lot of Ferrari get their own personalised CTEK charger..

Oh and the fact the car has a Cobra Tracker.. Which means if the battery dies, the tracker stops and you cant start your car even with a brand new battery until Cobra sort it, which is a real pain I'm told.

Thats because of the turbo... :p

And the fact that you probably drive less like a hooligan!

That said, I have averaged 32MPG on this tank so far. :)

Turbo doesn't increase fuel economy! But a 250bhp 2.0T will be more efficient than a 250bhp 3.0 n/a petrol... There's no reason a 200bhp n/a petrol should be less efficient than a 250bhp 2.0 petrol though :)

MPG's a function of the efficiency of an engine. A higher capacity engine does not always use more fuel. There is lots of factors, a larger stroke has more friction than a shorter stroke, piston, CHG design, ignition timing, compression ratio's, volumetric efficiency, thermal and mechanical efficiency, cD number, weight and all the rest! In comparison my 1.2 Clio is probably less efficient than my GTR at 80mph as the Clio is doing around 3.5-4k revs which has a lot of mechanical friction even though it has 2 less cylinders.

I'm not fussed, the car cost me £1700 and it regularly puts a smile on my face when I shift at 8300RPM. :D

Nice speedlines, shame about the pressed plate.

Can we see a picture of the whole car? :p

35% off sale at GSF so I went on their site expecting to go wild! Turns out that they stock bugger all for my car, so I ended up getting just a rear wiper...

Erm those days are long gone you know..
We stock a huge range of parts for all makes of car and light commercial vehicles,

They certainly stock a full compliment of parts for my ancient Lexus, I was looking today. Recently bought Subaru parts from them too.
