What have you done to your car today?

I took some family members out for passenger rides because they were curious as to why I have it.

They're still wondering...

had a puncture last night around 3 inch long peice of steel stuck in a brand new tyre, luckily the space saver got me to home and to a garage today to repair it.

Bought a set of DBA discs to go on the R53, will be run with Carbotech XP8s on the front but not sure what pad to use on the rear...

Unless you'll be on the brakes *all* the time, I wouldn't go for a racing compound as they just won't get up to their temperature window. A fast road one should suffice. I was considering EBC Redstuff. They apparently have excellent cold bite and resist fading well.

I found the XP8s are fine from cold - very first stop isn't great (but OK), fine after that though. Great stopping performance and consistency, although a lot of dust and hard on discs

Dropped my keyfob for the E46. It hit the floor with an almighty thud, which was odd as it only fell about 4 feet - the whole thing literally fell apart into about 3 different pieces :p

The spare fob is completely dead so I've had to send both off for repairs.

I did wonder, I have actually just found this morning a set of standard Mintex pads that I bought yonks ago... I'll sling them in for now and see how they get on...
I'm fully aware of the XP8s likely being way more than I need, like I said earlier though I got them for a price way to good to pass up and they should sell on easily enough should the noise or cold bite be too bad...

Think I chose the wrong week to have the car detailed :o

Although the ceramic coating should justify itself here.

Just bought some audio bits to try and co-erce myself into stop faffing around with changing Civics etc.

Alpine IVE-W585BT Double din
Alpine PDX-V9 - 5 Channel (4-channel + Mono Digital) Power Amplifier

Remaining:
JL Audio C3-650 - 225W 6.5-inch (165 mm) Convertible Component/Coaxial Speaker System JL Audio C2-650X - 225W 6.5-inch (165 mm) Coaxial Speaker System
JL Audio C2-650X - 225W 6.5-inch (165 mm) Coaxial Speaker System

Not decided on Sub yet, this was on the list but holding off for now.
Alpine SWR-12D2 3000W 12" dual 2Ω voice coil subwoofer **

Unless I get help to have a go at installing it all myself, I'll leave dynamat and cabling for the fitters.

Might ditch the rear seats entirely if I think it looks alright once they're out, make up for that extra weight being put in :p

JL 10" Basswedge will go nice with that, think it uses the w0v3 woofer, pretty good if you can find one cheap enough!

Realised I need to tax it next week, however, I pay via monthly direct debit, so do I need to tax it or will the DVLA automatically renew it?

Got a parking ticket :(

Staff carpark at the hospital was completely full, I parked in the normal carpark and paid the full price for a day's parking. Still got a ticket for parking in the wrong area. So frustrating

Eh?

You paid to park and got a ticket?

Tell them to stuff it!

MX5 is going in for a few things soon, after which the Octavia will probably be for sale. Then I'll either replace it with a little car to save on insurance (the Octavia is actually the most expensive car I've had for insurance!) or try and live with just the MX.

It is worth (at a push) £1000 but has a noisy wheel bearing which would be easily noticed on a test drive or ride along. I don't know if the cost of getting it fixed outweighs how much less I might be able to get for it without getting it fixed... I think it has passed its cambelt interval too, or it is within the next 5K. Could be an interesting sell. :p
