What have you done to your car today?

Thanks for the details Gaygle! Even if it's not what I wanted to hear lol.

Looks like it's replacement calipers time then, it may well be the rubber seal around the piston, one of my car mates from work mentioned this also.

No reverse lights working on the Fiesta, so jacked the car up and replaced the switch on the gearbox which is a known issue apparently. Still not working, so I'll just check the bulbs. ********, it was a blown bulb...

No worries.

Luckily it looks like you managed to stop before it seized too badly and the brake pad started melting. Often the first people will know if a seized caliper is when they see the smoke coming from the caliper in which case, the disc is almost certainly done also.

:D:D To be fair the bulb would have been my first check!

I bought two bulbs, replaced the reverse light bulb, then thought one of the others looked a bit dark so replaced that too.Now of course that side is much brighter than the other side and it's annoying me so I'll have to buy another bulb now to match...

Depends if its a plastic or metal tank as to what sort of repair you do, but pretty much. People use all kinds of things. If its metal then usually weld a small plate over the hole or something, if plastic, then some kind of petrol resistant epoxy resin I guess.

It's weird, I drove 12 miles or so on the motorway since my last post and did some town driving, no issues whatsoever. When the RAC guy had the calliper opened up, he said there wasn't sign of anything wrong either, but that he'd still clean it all up.

Could it be then that there was just a buildup of crap in one area causing friction or something?

I'll keep an eye on it of course, but can't even tell anything was wrong in the first place now.

Three days and 300 miles and she's buggered an alloy on the mini argh ....... :(

They are big cars to park mind lol.

My missus refuses to drive my Mondeo estate because its big and she thinks she cant park it, yet visibility out of it is brilliant. Where the back window is.. the back of the car is!.

Must admit I kerbed my alloy last week, was doing a U turn and thought it looked tight. Turned out it was :(

To be fair, i always touch my back wheel at the end of a ride on the motorbike :p

And nothing to the car today, tomorrow however, as I'm sure many people will be, i'll be transporting extra chairs to the grandparents house for christmas dinner :)

Unfortunately so would resting it at the top of a hill and releasing the handbrake :D

So would any wheel contraption!
Wow, there's some serious car snobbery in this forum...
Ive had more expensive or faster cars before, a 2.5 V6 jag, a 2.2 VTEC Prelude, a 200 SLK... so what, they all do the same basic thing, some faster, some more economical, as for looks, they are subjective!
