What have you done to your car today?

Experienced my first VX220 battery change, what a load of hassle.
It's in the front and sits on the chassis floor, the gap to get it down there is a little bigger than the battery and the heater pipe, main loom, bonnet release cable and water pipe all sit above it.
45 minutes to change a battery....

It depends what you're looking for. If you want to chuck naff ebay parts on your car you might save a few bob but getting the likes of Lemforder suspension parts for pennies isn't a bad thing for example. Oil is normally well priced, Mann filters not a bad price if you need to order same time etc. I get trade anyway but not a lot less than retail with discount codes for bigger parts. Sometimes I just buy retail using discount codes than via work for the 2 quid difference to save on paperwork and selling stuff to myself :D

As for car stuff, visited the garage today as 3/4 people have driven my car and can't find anything wrong... so I took the director out and low and behold the steering started snatching left again and it started feeling loose at the front. No one can see anything untoward. I still think CV joint or something is dying once it's got warm on a straight road for a few miles. I want it done asap for £0 so I can get rid of the damn thing. I've done more miles in a 1.2 Punto 8v than I have my own car in the last 2 months (out of 4 months owning it!!).

I recon the main reason you want to get rid is because of the ongoing dilemma with your incompetent garage. :p

Not cos its too "chav" for your street. ;)

Are you sure its not the Punto you're fed up with? :D

My EP3 used to do something similar to that. I changed everything and it was still the same. In the end I bought a refurbed rack on eBay and that solved it. :)

Jag needs a major service + plugs, gearbox oil and filter change and gearbox software update and I'm having a nightmare finding anyone who'll do it without either making a huge mess of it or charging me a fortune. Main dealer refuses to do gearbox service as they're "sealed for life", friendly, honest sounding specialist said the gearbox oil change alone would take "at least 3 hours" which is funny as I watched a guy at the garage I used in the UK do the same job on my old Jag with an identical gearbox and it took just under an hour

Almost tempted to drive it all the way back home and just get it done at the Jag specialist I used to use.

Taxed it. £515*to drive it less this year then last. Swear it was £505 last year :(

Edit: ****ING YELLOW STARS OF WTF.

Got mine through today as well. Gone up £5 since last year. Still, 4.9L 400PS V8, ~380 g/km CO2 and £235/year. Happy days. :p

How does that work? I just did my Saab today £295/year and that is 214G/KM. It is getting beyond a joke for me now where my car tax is getting onto double my insurance .

Never mind I just realised your car must be pre 01. Same as my Celica. Dirty but cheap :D.

Did my road tax today. £270. Still, can't complain. 5.5L V8. Good old stop/start technology and cylinder switch off that can be, well, switched off. Might be a few cats missing too :D

Received a yeti as a courtesy car - honestly don't see what's so good about it, especially for the rave reviews they receive. Cheap cheap cheap inside and this particular one unfortunately afflicted with the 1.6 tdi of absolute horror. Pretty average jacked up mum wagon without any sort looks imo

Also got a puncture in said car, right on the borderline repair area - think it wanted revenge

Oh, special mention for the steering - it's horrendous. Dead on the move which is no surprise or real problem given the type of car, but has some sort of variable assistance that just does not work at low speed. I don't want random heavy spots when running around at 5-10mph!

Edit - been swapped now (apparently people are really picky about courtesy cars and it had been promised to another customer Monday) for a fabia with one of the little turbo charged petrols and it's a cracking little car

I hate you. At least my insurance might be cheaper being older and wiser.....

They won't leave me alone :(

Yep - 2000 :). Some advantages to the pre-facelift!

Now that's almost certainly true. Probably cheaper than mine too.

They won't leave me alone :(

They have in that post - look on the bright side!
