What have you done to your car today?

Did mine start of Feb, was 670~ last year, only 290 this year. Few less miles on this policy, 9 years no claims and I changed my excess from 500 to 250. Both with esure.

Took the car out for a spin today and yesterday (Damn you vox for not choosing this weekend). Had it 2 years yesterday and it still puts the same smile on my face as it did when I picked it up 20K miles ago.

Just renewed my Saab for 188 fully comp. Celica for £330 with agreed value and all mods declared. 30 years old with 9 years NCD on the Celica and 4 years NCD on the Saab. Both cheaper than last year. 0 voluntary excess.

Has anyone had to renew car insurance recently?

Have mine coming up in a few days so been getting quotes and bartering with Admiral to get the prices down. Seems to be about £200+ more than it was last year, despite having no accidents, an extra year no claims etc. I have up'd the mileage + added business use though so that probably doesn't help.

Of course Admiral tried it on with the renewal notice, wanting over £1k for 10 months but managed to get them down to £850 for 12 months. Done a a compare the market.com quote and seems like I could go with esure for about £720 or hastings for about £785.

Renewed a week or so ago. Last year I paid £800 for the E92 M3, this year the best quote I got was £1250 but admittedly I have changed cars. Interestingly enough, this is the first year specialists have been in any way competitive for me, last year the best non-mainstream quote I got was £14k (yes, £14k) from Adrian Flux, whereas this year it was only £1,500, so I must now fit their demographic!

You and I both know that's not how this works :p

Whatever you do don't call it "Now with more sun" or "now with less snow" because even if its the middle of July, it will cause a snowstorm. :p

Just fixed my wiper arm positioning. Had a new windscreen fitted on Friday and noticed earlier today that the wiper arm wasn't getting anywhere near the edge of the windscreen like it used to. Clearly the guys had just bolted the wiper arms back on and not bothered checking it so luckily it was just a case of removing the cap, loosening the nut, holding the arm in place and doing the nut back up again. Easy enough to do even in the dark, but still, what idiots.

Fitted new plates to the hilux. Cleared out three years of kids junk and a kilo of spare change. Found the rusting shotgun cartridges I lost years ago. Needs an mot and service and it'll be up for sale.

Fitted wider mud flaps to the ranger. The wider wheels meant all the spray was flicked up the side. These are huge however I think I'll need to find some more as they could do with being 6" longer.

Had to take the wheels off to fit through flaps. Just found out how bleeding heavy they are.

Washed 3 cars yesterday. I have decided I hate washing cars more than I can remember, but I prefer it to paying a person it must be said.

So, today I found that pa's Land Rover no longer has brakes in the traditional sense. What it has instead is a sort-of 'in theory' braking system where there is hardware present, and no obvious signs of anything being busted, but the brakes don't really work  I found this out while driving, when someone saw 26cwt of Land Rover coming up the road and waited until nearly the worst possible moment to pull out into said road in front of me :eek:

Fortunately they work with a bit of pumping (fnar). Going to investigate it this week, soon as I've got some DOT3 fluid to top-up/bleed the system with.
