What have you done to your car today?

So managed to clean the inside today, as it was quite chilly and got moaned at for leaving the door half open for the power lead I treated myself to a cordless dyson :o

Don't think the inside had been detailed for at least 4 months... Ooops.

Also replaced the reverse light

Just need to replace the rear indicators and then everything will be LED on the car :)

Went to change the footwell light and it was different from what I was expecting so need to pick up a housing when I next pass VW dealers

After a couple of weeks, finished refurbing the wheels I got from z4m! Took a while but I'm happy with the result. Total material costs - £37.

Now the main thing, the car drives so much better on 18s! It's hard to believe tbh, it feels great! Other than the fact that the rear spring snapped - common problem on z4. So that needs doing.

Looks spot on grudas - like the 224s. Rear springs are insanely common. Opportunity for some coilovers or just replace the stock springs?

Yeah I do like the look too!

Going to get eibach Pro kit, will lower it a tiny bit over sports suspension too.

Coilovers in the future maybe but right now the springs and front control arms are on the to do list. Passengers side has some play in it and it does clunk over speedbumps.

After driving on 18s I think my other set is going for sale soon. 19s are a little too much for the suspension.

Removed all the exhaust post cat. Was met by rusted together arch nemesis but nothing could stop the power of sunday morning manliness.

Downstream lambda was threatening to not budge either, but it did, so I'm grateful for that.

Fitted new plates to the hilux. Cleared out three years of kids junk and a kilo of spare change. Found the rusting shotgun cartridges I lost years ago. Needs an mot and service and it'll be up for sale.

Might well be interested, let me know when you stick it up for sale.

Jesus! When you're done with it, and it is the cheapest highest mileage M135i for sale, give me a shout. :p
If I were to sell it now it would probably already be the cheapest LCI M135i anyway!

I'm in a bit of a dilemma with it really. I don't think I want to run it with the mileage I do without a warrranty, but by the time the original warranty expires in April 2018 it will be over 60K miles, meaning he warranty will be expensive.

If I sell it in the near future to someone who doesn't do many miles then they would have the peace of mind if a car with a year of original warranty remaining and the opportunity to buy the cheaper warranty for at least the next couple of years, making it an attractive private purchase.

On the other hand it's been entirely flawless so far (to be expected in a new car) and I know it has been well looked after and will continue to be, so it's likely to give me trouble free motoring for some time to come.

The only thing I can think I would willingly replace it with is either another M135i/M140i (what would be the point?) or a new/nearly new M3 (great upgrade, but a MUCH more expensive car).

Keeping it for another year then selling would be the cheapest option, but it might be a harder private sale at that point, which might made trading it in a better option but obviously at a lower price.

I'd imagine that virtually nobody will think about this when looking to buy.

If you like it, why not just keep it I guess? :)

It will certainly be a novelty to have a 10 year old 300,000 mile M135i. Everyone will think you're nuts. :p

I have no doubt it will get there if it is properly maintained...

I fitted LED brake and reverse bulbs a couple of weeks ago and while checking around the car last week, noticed one of the tail lights was out. I could have bought another filament bulb but took the opportunity to replace both tail lights and indicator bulbs for LED versions.

After a bit of a nightmare with cheap Chinese bulbs (which failed within 3 months and the seller refusing to honour his 12 month warranty ) I've spent decent money on the Twenty20 bulbs from Hids4U. They have a 3 year warranty so will see how they go. The Subaru's rear clusters are clear so it's nice to have all bulbs matching and of course, to no longer have the fried egg look.

Changed my clutch slave cylinder today as it was squeaking. Also flushed what I presume is original fluid from 1995. Old on the left and new fluid flushed through on the right. Love a nice simple job that goes right first time. Clutch and gear change is a peach now as I did that last month with Motul gear 300. Just noticed I have a split inner C.V boot on the front though which I feel is going to be a right pain!

Had the TC/ABS/DSC lights come on the M3 today. INPA said that it was rear right wheel speed sensor, and I could see all the other wheels reporting their speed correctly, whereas the O/S/R was constantly.showing "0.0km/h". So I whipped the wheel off and had a look. The first challenge was the stupid allen headed bolt holding the sensor in place. What moron thought it'd be a good idea to put a small allen headed bolt in a place that is that exposed to the elements? Naturally it was rusty and the allen key rounded straight away so I had to hammer a 9mm socket onto it and impact wrench it out. On looking at the sensor, it was clear that something had got in between it and the ABS ring because there was a big cut through the plastic.

I knew new speed sensors were £80 from BMW and £40 from an OEM supplier, but with something like this, I was happy to go used. eBay was my first port of call, and I quickly found a used Genuine BMW part for £12inc del and a new M5 (EDIT: should be an M6 bolt!) 15mm long allen bolt for £1. Not bad!

ABS sensor replaced yesterday. It's more of a pain in the arse than I remember it being on the 330ci I had. On the M3, they've decided to put the little plastic "case" which houses the connectors for the brake pad sensor and ABS sensor way down behind the skirt (just behind the rear jack pad), so it means you can barely get your hand to it and you have to do things by feel. On the 330ci the little click protective case for the connectors was right in front of you when you took the wheel off, next to the shock absorber. Then to even get to the connector case on the M3 you have to remove the air "flap" which sits in front of the wheel which is a bit of a pain again because it simply refused to line up again when i put it back. I'm sure it wouldn't have been that bad had it been 15c and sunny, but I decided to *try* and do it before this bad weather hit. I got everything prepped - jacked it up, got all the tools ready, removed the old one and was ready to install the new one before the rain got to us. Unfortunately, the postman was late  so he only dropped off the new sensor literally as it started raining - then I had no choice but to install it in the absolute pouring rain. There were several swear words invented along the way. I also ***** up and it was an M6x15mm bolt needed to hold the sensor in - luckily I had a proper M6 bolt so I just had to cut it down to size with the Dremel and hopefully if anyone ever needs to remove it in the future - at least they'll have a chance unlike with the allen bolts.

Ah well, all done now. And it only cost me £13 as opposed to £90 for a new BMW sensor + 0.5-1hours labour if I had bought the sensor new. Here's the old one - looks like something got jammed in between the reluctor ring and the sensor!

Busy day - changed front disks and pads, interim service (oil, filter, air filter + usual other stuff), dropped gearbox oil + replaced filter, flushed brake fluid. Replaced all interior lights with LED's. Then drove it to the garage to have two front tyres fitted.
