What have you done to your car today?

Over the past few weeks I fitted a new cambelt, water pump and tensioner, fresh coolant, new AC and alternator belts, new front discs and pads, cleaned filter and replaced pump for washer system, replaced gas struts for tailgate and got a new MOT.

Ordered some Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres - awaiting their arrival at the tyre place. Will be very glad to be shot of the current runflats.

Car insurance renewed and had fun with the autobrite snow foam.

Should be a busy weekend, lots of stuff arrived today!

- Ate Front Discs have arrived from Germany - £250 for the pair (very cheap) but are spot on with a nice galvanised painted finish and are the correct ones for the E46 M3
- PFC Z Pads + New Sensor also arrived this afternoon from 911Design (Cheapest by a fair bit)
- New Rear Tyres are in , I was going to go MPSS or CS6's, but Goodyear F1A2s are £158 each (265/30/19) so will give those a go as they've had good reviews on Cutters and any money saved will go on my next 'improvement' job..
- Already have the CSL Reps in Hyper Silver waiting for the tyres.

Then new OEM centre badges and I'll thrown on the stocking filler xmas presents the kids bought me, some 'lovely' ///M dust caps..

As long as the weather holds, tomorrow I'll send the new wheels down for the tyres whilst I tackle the front brakes, hopefully all will be done by lunchtime..

Id honestly advise just not using them.

One of my cars had metal valve covers, I couldnt get one off with any amount of tools/penetratives/force, and in the end the whole valve came off... :p

Got the Bilstein B12 (B8 struts and Eibach Pro springs) installed along with M3 upper and lower control arms.

Massive improvement to handling and comfort coming from very old SE suspension. The car can now actually recover from road imperfections rather than the force crashing through the car.

Several problems have arisen after I opened the windows and drove by a wall. There's a rubbing type noise tied into wheel rotation coming from the rear axle driver side - to be investigated. I don't believe the tyre is rubbing though, as the suspension is only a little lower than stock M Sport.

The other problem is the water pump has gone. Just my luck after spending £1k on a suspension overhaul to be immediately followed by another £500 estimated cost for new electric water pump and thermostat.

Destination: ****ed :p

I'd be gutted at having that extra bill after spending all that money on suspension :(

For my car... Got my local well rated PDR guy to fix the door dent my girlfriend had added, it's not absolutely perfect (it never would be quite the same afterwards) but you really have to go looking for it, if you didn't know it'd been done you'd never spot it. Cheap fix too at £30!

Nice! :D

I was looking at 190E's and 300's and things on eBay out of curiosity last night.

Looks good that, I love the two tone.

installed suplex springs, standard spec because insurance was not happy with modified suspension so eibach is on standby till next year! I'm going to try a specialist next year in the hope that they're more mod friendly and with 2 years on license will hopefully be a "go"

swapped both corners on the rear, only one cracked but other was rusty too.

car is booked next week in for a front control arm replacement(couldn't get the arms off on the side of the road so gave up and will pay someone to replace them) and full hunter alignment.

This is what happens with Petrolheads. People post an interesting old banger and off I go to PH for a nose.

Epic tip car and tow car surely!

When I was a young kid, my old man had a w123/w124. First w123 was a 230TE, same with the w124 (which we had for about 14years IIRC). Did a whole house move with just that car believe it or not. It was a bloody tank. Then we had a e220 facelift of the same w124 model which was great. Then we had a w203 (pile of poo).

I will always stand by the w123/w124 as the best Mercs ever made. Brilliant work horses.
