what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Yerp, between Head-Fi and AVF there's some fantastic 2nd hand stuff to be had. Just look for good feedback and keep an eye out as there's always people swooping in to nab stuff before you can get it!

I do see your point, but I couldn't have afforded my gear buying it all new. Just make sure they have plenty of good feedback and put up lots of pictures so you see exactly what you are getting.

I've yet to buy anything duff second hand and I've saved hundreds of pounds over buying new.

Yeah, I saw a pair of T1s advertised on Gumtree but I realised I'd be too scared to trust someone on there without buying them in person and turning up somewhere in London you don't know with £5-600 cash in my pocked didn't appeal to me either lol.

There also seems to be a lack of people selling T1s here in the UK or even the EU so sorting out postage from the US or Canada adds to the cost :/ add on the paypal fees unless you gift which is risky and the savings don't seem to be worth it sometimes

Sennheiser IE8i - Love these, sound quality is brilliant but comfort wise they're bad, I read people put the right's in their left ear and the left's in their rights and this sorts the comfort issue, they were right.
Beats Pro 'HD' - Very big meh, I wanted them to be used on my PC but the sound quality on the PC is awful, probably because I'm using on board sound but it appears I need an amp if I plug them into my Xonar DX soundcard.

Are those UM Merlins Shamrock?

What do you think of the customs compared to a full size can?

Yeah they are Merlins. It's difficult to compare IEMs to full-size due to the different presentation, but I think technically they compete with my best full-size headphones. Isolation is better than any universal fit IEM I've owned. Also, they have the huge advantage of portability over full-size.

These are definitely only for people who like bass. I have owned most of the bass orientated IEMs on the market and I think these have the best bass in terms of both quality & quantity I've heard yet. I cannot compare them to other customs though like the JH16 or FS MG6Pro which may be as good or better.

Overall these provide a fun, rich sound with great clarity across the whole spectrum. They are not analytical or neutral, they are just for enjoying music.

Had a set of Steelsound 5h v2's for 5 years, stopped working after 3 years of abuse, 2 year warranty. Emailed them, new pair sent out next day delivery. Awesome, can get a bit hot when wearing for long periods of time though

Shure E4. I hardly use phones any more, but kept these as they have depreciated too much -bought them for £150, now they are about £40.

Used to have Senn 580, Westone 3, Westone UM3X, Yuin PK1. Senns (when powered by Maudio 192 card) were tops, followed by Westone Um3x.

Check out www.1964ears.com when you are ready, I got my customs from their and they did a great job.

They've got some interesting in-ear monitors on there .. do you know of any reviews that have been done on them at all?

Am considering sending in my M5's for their custom remoulding service to see what they can do with them, since I have two pairs and the older pair is discoloured and all the cable is twisted :)
