what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Just dampened the cups and the small ring on back of the driver, stuck some memory foam in the pads. Really big improvement in bass tightness and quality.

just picked up a pair of DT770 Pro's and really impressed with them. Really comfy and loving the sound quality

Im getting pain above my ears after a few hours wear. not pain pain but uncomfortable and having to move them about. My previous headphones were pathetic so were made crap. might just take some adjustment and the corsair to soften a bit..
I think that just how the Corsair headsets are. I have their Vengence 1300, and the earcups is cramping down a bit much...and whilst like you said it is not "painful", it feel like the blood-circulation around the ear area are getting cut off :D

Added the Fidue A73 to my collection a couple of days ago and have already put about 12 hours of listening time on them. They have gone straight to the top of the pile and will likely stay there for some time. Not only are they now my go to IEMs but I am using them in preference to my HD650s and AKG K702s, they really do sound astonishing for £90.

In order of preference:

Fidue A73
Sennheiser HD650
AKG K702 (port modded)
RHA MA750
Havi B3 Pro 1
Rock Jaw Alfa Genus

My collection has thinned right down and I'm pretty happy.

HD650 is still here obviously.

The Philips X2 has taken me a while to enjoy. It at first sounded a bit too on the drier side but I was running it out of the ibasso then pairing with a neutral amp. With the Fiio X3ii on it's own or with the Vali it's really grown one. I use it straight out the X3ii mainly and it's a joy. It reminds me of the Annie but with a more smooth top end(With a neutral dap or DAC) It's pretty neutral so will be a bit of a chameleon.

It gets more head time than my other phones but it's mainly due to the inefficient nature.

I also have my gaming beast the Q701 still. Still kicking ass.

I probably change headphones more than most haha but I'm pretty happy. I've not really got any cravings to try anything else(prob cause I've tried 98% of the stuff out there! :/) The HD650 is for those special vocal moments with the little dots plus Millard M8161 tubes. Man! No one has lived until you've heard some Millard magic with the HD650 such richness!

I use the Audio Technical ES700 for portable. Fantastic MIDs! A bit shy on low bass but these are great.

I've got a pair of Beats Solo originals...now I haven't read the whole thread obviously so I don't know your thoughts on them, but people have said to me that Beats are too reliant on bass and aren't actually that good. What do you think?

Personally I love the bass on them but I wouldn't say it is overpowering.

Is it worth getting a sound card to connect them to? It would be solely for music rather than games.

Thanks.

I really want to know how my HD600s and 2228 based amp measures up on that subject but not so much I'm gonna buy tube amp + mullards.

Vocals are stunning on this amp.

The tubes make the difference. On the Vali the HD650 sounded fantastic but it didn't have that magic of valve amp plus certain Mullards. The M8161 tubes basically make the background noise dead silent. This makes vocals just have a focus and it's a truly intimate experience. It's on the warmer side but has good treble energy it also helps the HD650 get out of that slight muted top end. The soundstage sounds about the same but due to the dead silent background, instruments sound nicely spaced out.

I've tried the HD600 with some other Mullards and they sounded good, it has a bit more air and extension up top so it won't sound as intimate in the mids but if you want to hear a Senn sound like magic..try it. My HD650 set up cost me about £160 so it's not super cheap but the combo sings better than the HE-500 and LCD-2! When it comes to tone and mids anyway.

My equivalent to that is to use my Aune T1 with a Mullard 6DJ8 tube in the buffer stage feeding into the Vali. The tube into tube setup actually works well because the Vali doesn't have that "tubey" sound and the vast majority of the "seasoning" comes from the 6DJ8.

I have DT770's (250ohms) and Audio Technica AD700X. I also use an AudioengineD1 external amp/DAC.

I love the DT770's, the build quality is superb and they're really comfortable. However I'm not that big of a fan of the AD700X's, although they sound great and offer really nice soundstage, I don't like the self-adjusting wing supports design of the headphones. I wear glasses and the headphones are comfortable for 10 mins, but then your constantly having to reseat them and mess around with them to stop them causing any discomfort.

I probably end up selling the AD700X's and getting either a set of Philips X2 Fidelio's, Grado SR225e's or a set of DT880's premium's.

Senhiahfuhssidjjser - 205Hd over head things for music when at home in the living room
Sony in ear ones that came with my z1 for everything else
Cheap £10 steel series ones for gaming as they have a mic

NAD Viso HP50 - Got them for the bargain price of £110 when on special offer last month. Superb headphones and great soundstage for closed cans.

Sennheiser 650 - Another bargain i couldnt resist when on offer a few months ago. Better than the Nad but useless if other people in the room since they are open backed.

Goldring NS-1000 - Another bargain at £50. Great noise cancelling and the ones i use for travelling esp on planes.

I used to use the Goldring for gaming but prefer the Nad now. For music, the NAD is far superior and even picks up details that I dont hear in the more expensive Sennheiser.
