What is in my garden?

Update

I had the gamekeeper round on Sunday. We went into the woods in the afternoon and saw nothing. He checked for signs of anything unusual, and couldnt find anything.
Later when it was dark we went out....

Yup its back!! He listened and didnt recognise it at all:eek:

We had a look around and could hear it easily, but could not spot the darn thing:mad:.

He gave me a good idea on how to try and find what it is. Using clay or sand on a tray with food in the middle will leave footprints (he uses this to track mink).

Anyway I will try this and hopefully get a result at long last.

Waiting with immense anticipation.

Waiting with immense anticipation.

Have to wait till Friday :( (have a 1/2 day off)

As I need to get some sand for the foot/paw trap

I also got a reply from country file, who told me "they didnt have the expertise" and to contact the rspca. Fat use they are as Badger man hasnt shown

I heard it again last night but it was windy in the woods and there was no way I was going in there, as I wouldnt hear it coming for me!!

Anyway as soon as I have any updates I will post ASAP

sorry to drag this out, I dont mean too

Can you not take a friend out there with you, late at night, to investigate? If it does turn out to be a dangerous animal, you obviously dont want to be caught out there, in the night, with no one else with you.

All good mate....I'm sure you'll have something juicy for us as soon as possible. I think this is a terrific thread and waiting is half the fun!

its hardly going to be a big cat is it?

what kind of primary predator would breathe so loudly that its prey would hear it coming from miles away?. damn they ran away again..I wonder what keeps giving us away?

what about an escaped wild board snuffling about in the undergrowth?

no cows in fields close by..they snort and snuffle all night long and sounds carry a long way

My monies is it still being a hedgehog. They do make a right racket doing........er whatever they do. Snuffling/Breathing sounds.

Had the same thing in my garden, flushed out the deviant with a maglite and some harsh language.

Failing that, it's time to establish a perimeter and claymore the hell out of it.

Upon completion, it's time to ring Feek and Shotgun Ned and gain usage of their firepower/unstable mental disposition with much promise of fine ale and back issues of 'Jane's Guns'/'Soldier of Fortune'.

P.S Might be an idea to tell them re: claymores.

:p:D

My bet would be on it not being an animal/human at all but like with the predator sound above caused by the wind or something of a similar non animal origin.

just read this whole thread whilst at work and havent been able to do any work because this sucks you in really wanna know whats going down.
where i live theres a lots of forest and wooded areas the creep the hell outta me at night.

See, and I got stick for saying this thread is moving slowly, and that was pages back.

FAIL!!! One star.

It may be moving slowly but its still a good thread and people still want to know what it is. If you didn't you wouldn't have come looking back in the thread :p.

In some ways, I don't want there to be a resolution to this thread.

Because let's be honest, whatever is discovered, can never possibly live up to our expectations...
