What is in my garden?

Maybe the gatekeeper was having sexual intercourse with the animals... once alerted that somebody knew of these noises. He made out that he knew nothing and said he was making it all up.

He then waited till Stovies went to check it out and ate him. Would make a great murder story.
 
tbh, I'd get the direction of the breathing then chuck a flare at it. That would give you enough light to scare the thing away and catch a decent glimpse of its size.

Otherwise, get some fat french bangers. 4tw!

Might as well go the full length and use white phosphorus grenades ? You can then watch it run on fire, then follow it and poke it with a stick?

Stovies said that when he hears the breathing and moves in its direction, it sometimes appears to be all around him. It could be that the beast causing the noise moves with 'speed' and 'light of foot'.

He really needs to get some hunters out there with him. This way, they can tackle this beast, head on, with intent to solve the problem, once and for all.

But a bit of good news:D.. I had the guy from Scottish Badgers round last Friday afternoon, and we both went into the woods to look for clues. No badger sets in sight.
He said would I mind if he came back when it was dark as he had to pick up his wife and would be passing back in my direction.
Later I saw a car come into our drive. I went out and met the badger man and his wife. I asked him if he had heard anything, and he said they both heard the breathing as soon as he opened his car door!!

His wife asked if I kept the curtains open at night, I said we usually dont as there is nothing out there apart from woods. She said that she would keep them closed:eek:

They both came in and I played him the sound again on my hifi and he said it is defo the same sound he heard outside, but hasnt got a clue what it is..
I gave him the link to the sound and he said he will let a friend of his hear it (some guy who looks after sick wild animals), and let us know what he thinks.

he is also going to come back at night with some others to investigate further.

Kinda out of my hands now, but in a way I am glad, as it is spooking me out..

Just been out tonight and cant hear a thing (no wind) but my cats are acting strange again

I will update again when I have any info from badger man or see/hear the varmint

Not being funny, but all I could think of was "dogging" all the way reading through that part of the post!!!

In my local paper "the courier" in either Fridays or Saturdays edition (page 5)
a large cat like animal (7 foot long including tail) was spotted running across the road near Montrose
 
Very interesting. I'll be sad in a way when this ends, it's very intriguing :) I'd love to know what is it too though, like a good film :p

Wow, my dad claims to have seen a large one in our area. Wouldnt suprise me tbh. I haven't the time to type it now, but I have interesting (I believe!) stories on sightings in my area (Oxford and West sussex prior to where I live now)

These gamekeepers/badger-man are lightweights. I think your breathing problem is scaring them. You need someone who has no fear in dealing with beats of this nature. Have you thought about some "hunting" assistance, with BIG guns, to come out and stake the place out for a weekend. At the very least it might be worth buying some very high power lights and lighting up the entire area as soon as you hear the sound, as it would appear that it is only heard at night.

On a separate note, we are all assuming that it is an animal of some sort. But have you considered that it might actually be supernatural, in which case it would be wise to bring a priest to carry out an exorcism? Maybe the woods were an ancient burial site. Perhaps you have an unsettled spirit in the woods. Either that, or some body out there is using the woods as a dogging site (including badger-man and his wife). ;) Remember, badger-man's wife actually advised that the curtains be closed at all times, perhaps to give the doggers some privacy?

Actually that is a good point. I live really close to some woods/forest and some of things I've heard and seen cannot be real. Nothing like the heavy breathing, but I've heard things walking around my car when there is nothing there.

A couple of years ago near me there was a few sheep killed and eaten in a classic big cat kill style and there was a few sightings of large cats at night as well.

If only Steve Irwin was still around, he wouldn't be a pansy about it, he'd be right in there and jump on the offender and it wouldn't take 14 (and counting) pages to figure it out, it's all this posting time that is preventing actually seeing said being.
